I recently noticed that my M17x R2 gets very hot on the upper left side when running SC2, more so than with other games such as DC Online. I checked underneath and it is most definitely from the video card. I have had this laptop since last November (brand new) and am wondering if this is normal? Why one car and not the other? It only takes about 5-10 minutes for it to get very hot!! Any advice? Thanks :)

Have you tried downloading GPU-Z or HWinfo to measure the temps on your videocard while you are playing? Just to verify that it isn't overheating. I've heard that SC2 can cause a lot of heat issues with video cards, so maybe it's simply the game pushing the videocard harder then other games do.

Although measuring the temps would probably be a good thing to try.

    Good luck :)

Using GPU-Z one card is 88C and the other 42C, is that okay?

Sounds like sli isn't enabled for that game and just one is being used.

Well the temps seem normal. If you don't experience crashes i think it's all good. My R2 runs hot too but it's like 30C in the room so i guess it's normal to get hot.
