Poor Vertex and RAM. Bet you are singing lullabies to them when you go to sleep too. Or maybe just have random conversations on how hard and fast you are going to run that poor SSD when you get the R3 :p

I think it would be better to have the SSD before getting the machine, my Vertex 3 won't arrive until after 4/20 and the R3 should be here this week, this gives me about a week, possibly more, to customize Windows on the little 320GB drive before I yank it out and do a clean build on the new Vertex 3 drive.

You'll be all set up to slap those babies in yours after a little playing around and then do your new build and tweak the OS once ...

The part number is CA10N, I purchased mine through e-bay, was a bit cheaper than going through dell.

Careful with those e-bay seller guys. I bought a CA10N from a big seller in Texas. He advertised it as refurbished. It was used, and non-operational. Not to mentioned it scratched up my Alienware CD because it ate it, grinded a bit, then would not eject. The seller sent me two replacements, and both were bad. The replacements even had physical damage on them. Normally I wouldn't mind as purchases are covered with Paypal, but do you know what's involved with taking the M15x apart to get to the optical drive. Just pay a little more and make sure the drive is new. I wouldn't trust the refurbs, most are just used pulls that have never even been tested.

    We're the same then.

I'm still waiting for my M17 to arrive. My hyper x ram is dispatched but the laptop still in production. Vertex 3 240gb is my next upgrade to get.

    Tired of waiting.

Tearing down the m17x was pretty daunting. Its very difficult to pry off that palmrest; I got it off to finally realize that it was my optical drive that was the source of the rattling. I'm going to swap my replacement's optical with the one I'm returning; the old one didn't rattle.
