I got my m17x few days ago :)
But since the day 1, as soon as i opened up the box and took my lappy out, i plugged in the ac adapter to my lappy. then, there was some kind of buzz sound as soon as i plugged in the adapter. I thought it was becaus the lappy was eating his food for the first time. but it continuously made the buzzing sound. It even makes the noise when it's turned off. When I unplug the adapter the noise fades away.
and also, i think the bettery stops recharging for few sec and then starts to charge again when ac adapter is plugged in.
did anyone else had these problem? or is it normal?
i never had these kind of problems with my aurora m9700 so..
oh btw, i tried running the lappy without the battery and it still makes the noise. hmm..
    what you guys think?

If it says something like 'Unrecognised AC adapter' when starting up, try installing the A06 bios. That solved the issue for me, and stopped the beeping sound when starting up whenever the AC adapter is plugged in.

i dont think the bettery stops charging since it didnt turn off. my problem is just that ac adapter making noises after it's plugged into my laptop.

Call Dell and request a new one.

You should not be hearing any noises from the adaptor

Had the same problem like everyone else above said call Dell. I was also told not to use the old one untill the new one arrives, due to it possibly shorting the mobo or some other internal (not sure if that is true, but I did so anyway)

My Flextronics adapters als made that noise and died pretty soon. The Delta ones Dell sent as replacements have been quiet and haven't had any problems.

Yeah it sounds like a flakey AC adapter, go along with what the others are saying and get it replaced immediately!

1-800-ALIENWARE. No kidding! That is the number.

And they will usually try to fix the problem before replacing. May just send an adapter to start with. Let us know....

hehe not much you can do with AC adapters, generally they replace them.

Believe me, I tried working on my, since I knew it would take at least four weeks to get a replacement.

For real. What I meant was if they think it is a mobo or power circuit problem. Either way they will want to try to diagnose it over the phone(which may be difficult in this case), and then go from there.

ok guys.. i finally had time and called AW tech support this evening.
the guy who i talked on the phone just asked me what i called for. and then, i simply said that my ac adaptor is making noises. he asked me nothing else and then just put me on hold to request a new ac adaptor for me. i was worried at first cuz i had bad experience with some indian lol. this guy was indian but had pretty good accent/pronounciation. last time i called, i couldnt even understand any words comming out of the guys' mouth. anyway, he told me it would take 1~2 days till it arrive :) i didn't have to go through any processes but it sucked that it took me 40mins for someone to pick up my call. everything went well and fast :)
