... ugh.... I don't even know where to begin....

Yet again I'm on here explaining how broken a system I've got and how I've had nothing but trouble with Dell, Alienware and the MX17. It began here ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/709239-why-ill-never-buy-dell-alienware-again.html), which was a post that was previously deleted for "trolling" until I questioned the reasoning behind such and suddenly it got reinstated.

After ALL of those previous issues, I finally got it back after 2 weeks... and guess what... still broken. Ya, can't believe it but my laptop, after all it's been through, and all the band aids they've given it, all the touchups and little fixes they've given it still isn't working.

After finally getting it back with a windows 7 operating disk this time, I dreaded using it again for this exact reason. Since I've got it back, I've had issues with it constantly lagging (even after startup, it often lags opening basic windows explorer or my computer FFS), games are barely playable (from starcraft 2 to civ V. yes I've got the most recent updates for everything, drivers, patches, etc) as most of them run at an average of 10-20 fps.

Then 3d movies... stuttering video, 1080p video, stuttering. I literally bought this laptop so I could throw on a game every now and then, get some work done on it and use it to watch 3d movies, as of now I can't do any of that and in the past year of having it I've barely been able to use it for any of that.

I've requested another replacement system (#5) since they've tried fixing this thing more than 3 times in the past month and a bit. I've spent so much time money and effort into this thing and all I really want is a working computer. I'm glad some of you have had good experiences with Dell, but from what I've seen heard and experienced myself the good ones seem so far and few in between the horror stories.

    My review so far...
1 our 10 for these reasons
aesthetically it does look nice, especially as the decorative piece it's been up until now
I did have one repairman who seemed to understand and know what he was doing among the sea of rude and embarrassingly inept individuals. Oddly enough he was from a third party company who was contracted to do home repairs...
As for almost EVERY OTHER thing I can think of has been an utter fail as it doesn't seem to work... I will continue to post updates on this issue in hopes of finally getting this resolved and in an effort to let people make up their own minds about whether to purchase one of these machines or not...

Why did you open a new thread rather than just add to your original thread?

Maybe try copy and pasting back into your original thread so everyone has an idea of the whole ordeal rather than jumping between them. I hope your problems get fixed soon and maybe a mod can close this thread?

    This.

Sorry to hear that you haven't had a good experience with Dell, but what's the point of this thread exactly? Are you looking for advice or just venting? Unless it's the former, you could reply to your other thread or post here instead http://forum.notebookreview.com/off-topic/567605-what-bothering-you-right-now.html

I didnt post in my previous thread for 2 reasons, one being that as I said it had previously been deleted by a dell moderator then reinstated, and secondly since by the time I noticed it was reinstated it had been closed. As for why I posted this, just thought I'd share my experiences, is that really such a crime?

I noticed that the positive review of dell's customer service wasn't questioned as mine has been every step of the way and I'm literally doing the same thing just in the opposite light. Sharing my experience with others, which as it stands now seems to be quite unfinished.

After re reading it, I hope you do get it fixed, but it does seem like you only come on here to vent, t his forum is very friendly yano forum members will be willing to help if you ask for it. To me it sounds like the hardware is ok, but software is not. Sounds like a driver issue personally, because usually hardware tends to work, or it doesnt, there isn't a great deal of midpoint between them.

Stuttering could be due to faulty hard drive, or I suspect faulty gpu drivers. I guess they are probably stuck in the p0 state. I don't know, just checking your computer using HWinfo64 and GPU-Z would probably give us an indication to see if more hardware needs to be changed.

I hate people who say its not working, but don't do anything about it themselves, they always ask someone else. I had issues with my m17x, but I fixed them in then end. My GPU was stuck on the standby state when I was playing on games, but instead of shouting down the phone to dell, i fixed it myself.

Like anything these days, dell support are like any other company support, YOU need to put the legwork in, don't expect them to phone back, dont be that oblivious, unfortunately it sounds like staying on the phone, speaking to superiors and not backing own would be best way for you to go. And get everything documented, just because someone says they will replace it on the phone, does not mean you will get it, but if you have written proof then its something to show them when they back down.

I am not trying to start a war or anything, just my thoughts. I really do hope you get a functioning laptop in the end. Spending so much money its only right to get a functioning laptop.

You see, for the first 9-10 months I was constantly doing the leg work, constantly doing everything that was required, yet continuing to have issues. I've stopped at this point, I figure that if I'm paying this much for the laptop, completecare warranty etc, I'm done doing everything for them. At this point I'm expecting a gift wrapped laptop in ship shape with a bow on top (maybe not to that extreme but close). I understand you're not trying to start anything but after having paid for something as expensive as I have, then literally spending as much time as I have in getting it repaired, dealing with as many people as I have, and waiting as long as I have, you start to give up doing the repairs etc for them.

They've just sent me another email requesting that I let them take it for an additional week to 2 weeks to test/repair it... I've had my laptop for maybe 8 of the 14 months I've had it and out of those I'd say 2 possibly 3 was in wait or having technicians come by to try and fix it. At this point I'm not settling for anything else other than a total replacement. Call me pompous or whatever, but at this point that is literally the least they can do.

I read your post and I apologize for those inconveniences but the techs are just trying to figure out what's wrong with it. DDDeniZZZ has a good point there, it also seems to me like a software issue.
