    Hello.

Not sure what happened. All I did between today and yesterday was download Windows XP Mode (I'm using Win 7 64-bit). Didn't make any changes to anything audio-related as far as I can tell, yet now, when I record with FRAPS, the mic is muffled, distorted and sounds awful.

    I'm on an M17x R4.

Any ideas of what could be causing this? The drop in quality is drastic and makes recording impossible right now. I really have no idea what could have caused this.

    Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Re-install your audio drivers.

Thanks for the tip, but I figured out what it was. Turns out the cord to my headset was fraying, because it gets wound up tight into knots all the time. Not sure why it tangled so much, I would untangle it every few minutes, only to have it tangle and wind tightly again. So, the actual cord was fraying and today when I went to untangle it, the cord fell apart.

At least now I know it wasn't an issue with my computer! Time to buy a new headset :)

LOL, yeah at least it wasn't the PC. I'm glad you found the culprit.
