Well my dell outlet with 20% coupon for the following specs
1900 by 1200 RGB screen, 920xm, 5870CF 500gig 7200 RPM HD for 1800 ended up being well worth it. FINALLY.

Problem 1: Sent me the wrong PSU.
Problem 2: CPU temps hit 99 C which caused throttling. Problem was heatsink. New fan and heatsink installed and temps under full gaming load are 78-81 now. Much better than the 20 degree difference on two cores.

Crysis, L4D2, CS:S, MW2 are running perfectly. I ran 3dmark vantage with the old heat sink and still scored 14717 or something which I think was really good. Haven't OC'ed or done throttlestop yet. LOVE the RGB screen. Don't think I will ever settle for anything less anymore.

My only concern is that the refurb I bought obviously was used incorrectly (who knows for how long that CPU has been overheating. I feel like modern CPU's have many fail safes so I am assuming I should be good to go on using TS and carefully monitoring temps. Am I correct in assuming that the last thing I should worry about would be a CPU failure before GPU problems?

Anyways, thanks to all that have helped me on the forums. This thing is a beast and I promised my wife I wouldn't spend over 2k on a system and was thinking I would need to wait a few months to get the R3 with the 6970 for probably around 2k and am very happy to pull the trigger on this system for 1800. What a great time to buy. R2's were flying off the shelf in minutes a few weeks ago because they were rare. Now the outlet was flooded with them in anticipation of the R3. I think I scored a nice system despite the problems I ran into! Frag on.
