At system, it says the model is m17xR3, but I'm not sure whether its just an m17x or not.

Someone please tell me, I really don't know.
If mine does, how do I access it?

The graphics card is: AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series

    Intel Core i7-2670QM @ 2.20GHz
    Memory: 8GB

(I think moderators have moved my previous thread.. I'm sorry but please make this an exception.. I really need a fast response!)

As above, your laptop doesn't have 3d. You need an Nvidia card for 3d. And also a 120hz screen.

Is there a third party program or something that will allow stereoscopic 3D using AMD Radeon?

No as your monitor must be 3D capable.

Hii again, I have accidentally uninstalled the Radeon HD series 6900M drivers and I can't find where to redownload it...

At system, it has changed to: Standard VGA Graphics Adapter

Do you know where to reinstall the Radeon drivers I had before?

I'm sorry, I really suck at computing and stuff.

I am unable to find the Radeon HD 6900M series from that list though. I looked at the "all" tab.

I don't know if you have to use dell drivers for alienwares as mine hasn't come yet, but google:

    Catalyst 12.1 preview

that should reinstall your 69xx series and get better results.

Can you find your Dell spec sheet or something, and see what graphics card you have? You'll have either a 6870, a 6970 or a 6990.

Maybe a bit of googling next time before throwing money at a laptop. ;)

What GPU did you get when buying the laptop? How did you even buy one without knowing what parts it included?!

It was an exchange, and dell decided to give me a "better one", in which they didn't tell me about.

The graphics card is: AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series (This is as it reads in System>devices)

    Intel Core i7-2670QM @ 2.20GHz
    Memory: 8GB

The main problem is that I uninstalled the AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series (This is as it reads in System>devices)
by accident... how do I reinstall this display driver? :c

If your original system came with nVidia 3D (120Hz LCD + 460M/560M/580M GPU's), then you are entitled by Dell to provide you a replacement with either a like or better nVidia GPU with the 120Hz LCD Panel. The reason why is because you paid extra to get the 3D feature and it only works with a nVidia configuration.

If your original system was ATI OR you brought a nVidia setup with a 60Hz LCD, then you ARE NOT entitled to 3D by Dell.

So you need to tell us did you have 3D in the original system?

You can reinstall the 6990M Drivers via Dell Support's website. Since you aren't experienced with the system, I would strongly advise you to use Dell's.

Yes, I had 3D originally, but this replacement is a Radeon when the old was nVidia.

Also; Where would I check what the display driver is? I read somewhere that It always reads as AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series at the System>Devices, but it really is some other one.

Call up Dell to request a 3D system then. ATI's can't use 3D on the R3.

Go to Dell Support Site and find the driver for the 6990M. Just download it and install. That should get everything working again.

Your graphics card is not: AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series

AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series is what it sounds like - a series of graphics cards. We need to know your specific model to tell you what drivers to install.

(Or do we? I haven't been keeping track; do AMD use unified drivers for their laptop GPUs yet?)

As for where to find your specs, I was assuming Dell sent you out a sheet with the laptop that details your chosen components. (or in this case, the components they chose for you) At the very least, surely you have an email confirmation from the tech support guy you were talking to about the exchange?

Oddly, I didn't get a sheet along with the replacement.
And I've done it by call, so no email.

    Bye the way, you repeated...

(Similar to nVidia Panel I mean)

Download a program called "Gpu-z" then give us a pic of what it says.

For instance, show us this image.

the 6970 has 960 shaders while the 6990 has (i think?) 1120. This way we'll know which gpu specifically you have.

GPUz won't show anything as he's uninstalled his drivers from the Device Manager.

Alrighty guys, I installed the 6870 one, and it is fixed! But does this mean that I am still using an old driver from my pre-installed one? (I am assuming that older drivers would still work)

Also, now that it is installed, how do i access the ATI panel? (Like the nvidia panel) I can't find it. :u

If there is a ATI Panel, its not in Control Panel, do I need to install it somewhere?
