So, after a few tribulations I finally got my R3 up and running. The machine itself looks flawless on the exterior except for this one tiny dent on the right front grill. The keyboard is pretty smooth with no sinking or flexing and the media bar is perfectly set. Can't complain here compared with my R2.

There is one flaw however, the battery is a bit jiggly/loose, noticeable when you tilt the laptop. Also, the part of the bottom panel which the thin cover portion of the battery covers is cracked/chipped. Might have something to do with the battery being slightly loose... There is no structural significance to it though. All the internals are set in properly, very nice job. I replaced my RAM and HDD's.

Is the above problem reason for concern/return? It does not seem to affect anything functionally. Also, I could maybe use it as an excuse later on and get a replacement if it's not feasible for them to replace the whole bottom panel ;)

P.S.: Sorry about not posting pics, later on maybe I'll get on it. Also, I know I posted this in another thread, but do people have any experience with Roxio or just consider it bloat?

Did you buy it new? I'd not accept anything less than perfect.

Also what issues did you have with your R2?

I bought it new, and I already thought of returning it. I probably don't want to another 2 week wait so that I can get another bad replacement with a bunch of other flaws... I read some pretty horrifying stories on here, one talked about 3 consecutive bad replacements!!! :)

My R2's keyboard and media bar was hilly; it raised in the middle and sunk toward the end. I think it had a loose internal that I ended up fixing... My R1 was perfect though!

I just ordered an R2 from the outlet so I'm hoping it comes in good condition. It will have a 285gtx in it which I will probably swap out with a 6970m :)

Yeah, I don't remember people complaining about raised keyboards/media bars so I might have gotten a poorly assembled R2. Not the same can be said for the R3, the current issue seems to be the media bar buttons being visibly raised most of the time (I think there's a guide on the subject) and the keyboard facing the same issues.

A year ago I would have been the same as you and return it in a heartbeat, but hearing the horror stories around here I'm having second thoughts... that's why I'm wondering if I should be concerned or not about the issues in the OP.

I'd return it and wait for it to be fixed. If you still have that R2 in your sig what is the rush?

No rush, I'm just wondering if there's any significance to the issues or if it's purely aesthetic or just a slightly loose battery which I can get replaced.

The loose battery is what would concern me the most. No time for that garbage.

I guess you're right, the battery thing is easy enough to deal with anyway. Good luck with your R2, I'm sure it will be perfect! Any experience with Roxio by the way? I'm thinking bloatware...

I agree with the others, replace it if the battery is loose. That would annoy me if I had to notice it every day. No problem with ROXIO software, I think it works like a champ. I mainly burn ISO using it, that's all and works well for me.
