Hello all. I have a very strange problem. It appears as though the screen on my M17X R4 is leaking. I don't know what else to call it. Every few hours, little drops of liquid appear on my screen. At first I thought it was from my sneezing (I sneeze a lot, but I always make sure to direct it away from the laptop). Now I see it happens even when I don't sneeze. Today it was even worse as there were 4 distinct little trails of liquid on the screen, a few centimeters apart from each other and going down in a line.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening? What should I do? The laptop is still under warranty. I'd prefer not to send it back but if worse comes to worse I will, if the problem is going to get worse or something. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Post a picture in this thread so we all can see what you are talking about. This may be a more common problem. I've noticed with my brand new r4 sometimes I get little 2mm lines of liquid that I have to wipe occasionally and I'm like wondering where they are comng from.

Yeah! They are very small lines of liquid that I have to wipe occasionally. Is this normal? I am currently moving to a new location and my camera is packed up, so I can't really take a pic, but I can send my service tag when I get the chance. Should I be worried though? Or is this just a common thing?

Um I don't think there is any actual liquid in the display. Maybe one of the caps is bad.

This is weird, you actually get to wipe it up? There was a virus many years ago that did this...

I think it may be condensation? Idk I get this extremely faint little lines that when I wipe the screen they go away. They are literally like 1-2mm long. They are so small and hard to see even.

It's very little lines a few millimeters big, and always in the same place. sometimes theres 2 or 3 lines, usually there's just one. very strange.

That's what I think, I believe there's this sort of liquid they use to clear panel B(glass panel) when assembling the LCD. Maybe it condensates under certain circumstances? Just a thought though..

do the lines look like they match up with your keyboard? sometimes the oil from your skin will stay on the keys and then leave lines on your screen

No, I don't think it's oil from my skin. Today there was 4 separate lines, a few centimeters apart, all about the same length of a few millimeters long. Had to wipe it away and go on with my business. I'm not too concerned but my thought is, what if it gets worse? I don't want my warranty to run out and then find out I have some major problem....

I think this is the cause. I have noticed (after not wiping it for a few days) that the line lengths and spacing is very predictable and line up with the keyboard.

For me, it is predominantly on the left-hand side of the keyboard.

HAHA, its oil from your fingers... screen leaking, that is the funniest thing I've heard in a while. just place a thin cloth over your keyboard before you shut the lid.
