Yup get the RGB screen really worth the extra $$$. If it's pushing your budget, you could try lowering your RAM to 4GB. It should save you some money to put it towards to RGB screen instead.

HUGE difference. RGB is perfect color, Regular LCD is not. Most people that don't buy RGB really regret it. If your system is built already I would return it and reorder. Roughly $200 US for the upgrade.

I agree about the screen, but the 1400 x 900 is really okay. I've only had 1400x900 until I got my M17x and I don't mind the resolution of the 1400x900 at all. You have to go with what you can afford.

    Agree...
You should change it to RGB LED 1920X1080...
    Its worth...
just downgrade the RAM to 4 GB...
and ask for a discount after upgrade the display to RGB LED...

in many countries the RGB upgrade is a lot more expensive than it is in the US. I believe a few people reported that it's anywhere from $300-$500 US for the option.

I cant change the screen so im wondering if the 1440x900 is still god since om buying this like a refurb and if i change the screen it will be like 1000$ more expensive thats why im wondering if its still good with the 1440x900. From whats everybody is saying it seems like its the devil.

This is something that you really need to see for yourself. You are best to visit a computer store regardless of brand and see what different resolutions and types of LCD there are. An educated consumer makes the best decisions. The refurbished center should have lots of RGB to choose from. It sounds like this is a private sale or something you have seen on ebay. Beware most people sell ther laptops after problems have occured. If your budget is that tight than you may get a bigger bang for your buck with something more affordable like a G73 single 5870.

I've seen the 900P screen and it's a fairly decent CCFL screen, although next to an RBG it does look washed out. It's not something I would consider a deal breaker in an M17X however, finding international shippers for the RBG or 1200P R1 LCD upgrade for <$1000 is fairly easy. You don't have crossfire cards anyway, so 900P isn't going to be a waste of GPU power. AFAIK, there are no retail outlets that have an Alienware M17x on display in Sweden. You best source is going to be youtube or 900P M17X screen reviews.

The 1440x900 screen will look the same as most of the laptop screens you see in retail stores, or the cheaper desktop LCD screens that you can buy. They're fine for everyday use.

The RGB-LED screen displays a much fuller range of colours, meaning that it's more suitable for photo editing. However, because it's higher resolution, everything comes out smaller. Many people find that they need to increase the default font size in Windows in order to make out text clearly.

I'd be happy enough with what you have. I doubt you'll notice the difference unless you see both screens side-by-side, in which case you'll get jealous :)
