Xenn0X, that could be cause by RAM modules! try unpluging 2 of them e.g and rerun the system. If you have different moduels try to use them as well. If you're able to boot - reinstall GPU drivers

No reason to replace the whole system then, just a bad CPU, nothing to be done for it, sometimes they fail. In general things like CPUs either fail early or almost never, yours failed early, replace it and be done.

the cpu is defective, but i can get it working by disabling turbo mode and speedstep. then in works.. enable those features and it's failing.

I had desktop Q6600 fail on me once, so i know the feeling. Sucks big time. It was doing all kinds of crazy stuff very unstable. Hope they get this fixed for you ASAP.

CPU failures are extremely rare indeed.

I'm glad to see you were able to troubleshoot it and sorry to hear your brand new laptop failed so soon because of the CPU.

yes indeed, you can clock the living hell out of them and still they will not burn out but this one is strange, on lowerclocks it works on higher it's dead.

ahh well, i can work now on 1.2 ghz and just have to wait for the replacement.
better then not able to use it at all, this laptop generates my income too so it's kinda painfull :)
