Just bought my buddies m17xR2 with 2xRaedon Hd5870 graphics card. I did a clean wipe of the computer and reinstalled windows 7 back into it, installed the drivers in a specific order I got off another forum (apparently this matters not sure if it truly does but I followed the "proper" driver installation order) my graphics cards weren't installed so I went to the ATI website and downloaded there program to install them. Things went smooth but shortly after instaltion the computer froze. I had to do a force shut down and when I rebooted it this came up

I can only get it to go to the windows log in screen when it's unplugged otherwise it will either load to a black screen and remain there or return to that blue screen. How every when it's unplugged I can get to my desktop in safe mode and can navigate everything fine. I'm hoping this is just a GPU error and the program isn't installed properly, any suggestions as to what I should do ? Not exactly super computer savy so if anyone could explain it s

HI, just a guess but maybe when it's unplugged the GPU's are running in low power mode stopping the failure? Just a shot but I'd start with using DDU in safe mode to clear it out. Then go back into windows and see if it installs a driver. If it does then test it fully before using a later one. Otherwise install the driver fresh using whatever dell publish as the last supported driver first (you could also do this at the same time as you use DDU).

Another (painful) option is to remove the GPU's one at a time to see if one of them has gone faulty?

You could also have a look at WhoCrashed ( Resplendence Software - WhoCrashed, automatic crash dump analyzer) to examine the BSOD logs. Not a great diagnostic program but it can sometimes give you a better clue as to the cause ;).

    Good Luck

Try reverting back to a old restore point before you installed the new ati drivers

Use DDU from Here as MickyD advises to take the drivers off in safe mode. Then reload the Dell graphics drivers from dell.com and report back
