The vBIOS is the problem as Mr Fox has said... @Burekdober, I'd suggest you call it quits tonight... I think we all need a goods night sleep and then tomorrow, we can think a bit about this.. What I find strange is that you have beep errors when you placed both GPUs in? I'd suggest that tomorrow, remove the GTX780M and clean the MXM contacts on it and on your motherboard and try again... I think dust might be causing some problems... It's a shot in the dark but better then nothing![]()

i Will try but mxm connectors seemed pretty clean as far as i remember and when i put 6990m back in it Works perfectly :,(

OK, that's good info to draw from. If it is the same part (hardware) then the vBIOS he is trying to use is causing a problem or the MSI GPU he is trying to use may have a problem. The M17xR3 and M18xR1 lack UEFI support and if the vBIOS on the GPU is the wrong type it will not POST. The problem may be similar to why 970M and 980M will not work in the M17xR3 or M18xR1 (fails to POST with 8 beeps). The hardware might work with a different vBIOS, but he may not be able to flash a different vBIOS while the GPU is in that machine.

IS there no magic to work around this
Thank you for all the info so far, Im really grateful -
There is no way to fix this. Return GPU then buy Alienware/Clevo one. You've bought gtx 780m MSI UEFI series. It will not work in non-UEFI laptops like M18xR1 or your m17x. If someone bought MSI 780M and it works then he can feel lucky because even non-uefi 780m sometimes just doesn't work. We don't know why.
I have two Alienware GTX 880M probably dedicated to put in M18xR3 and when I flashed new vBIOS then cards were bricked. I had to flash new vBIOS through programmer and it works now. And all this crap is caused by new UEFI vBIOS that is on these cards. Mine were freshly produced.
I've had two HD6990M and put two GTX 880M. Works without any extra steps. Just plug'n'play

@felix3650 is fair enough to take the gpu back for a refund. Best internet buying experience so far!

What EXACTLY do I have to look for in my next 780m in order to work on Alienware m17x r3?
Thank you!

Vendor: Clevo or Alienware. That's one and only requirement.
Good luck
