Hey guys,I am having a herd time with my raid 0 set up running only in 3Gb/s. My set consists of two lintel 330ssd each 180gb. Installed in one year old M17x R3. I did a clean install of windows 7 home premium, downloaded the proper drivers, including the new Intel RST ones. I optimized for ssd and ran Crystalbenchmark getting substandard scores for my set up. Running my RST and clicking on volume it is showing my ssd running 3Gb/s data transfer. I tried flashing the bios to version 09 but no help. Tried setting bios to optimal default as suggested by forum member but no help. I would appreciate any help or suggestions on this matter! 101-9FCF4BC8-319499-960.jpg

It's because only 1 port was ever SATA III anyway (Port 0). So therefore when raided it will default to the lowest speed of both drives which will be SATA II.

It's sad that this issue has been present since day 1 of the R3's release. Is it fixed in the R4?

Yes, both HDD slots are SATA III compatible in the R4.

do not do ssd raid 0 in R3 you will get in bsod hell.. been there done that got R4 for the pain..
it's only stable of you run bios A09 and above.
running ssd raid 0 on A08 and lower will make you crazy, one ssd on sata 3/6 fluctuating and other on sata 6 wil give a load of bsod and crashed, it's impossible to get it stable on pre A09 bios.
since a09 bios dell just disabled the 6 gb/s and then it's stable..

R4 has sata3 on both normal ports stable, msata is 3 gb/s where dell manuals says 6 gb/s.. don't even get me started on the R3 BS manual where dell says that both ports are 6GB/s which is not possible at all with the chipset.
    good luck m8

I spent ages getting my R3 to operate the SSD at sata III, and really it didn't make any real difference in operation that I could see. Win loaded a few seconds quicker but apart from that nothing. I guess it would make quite a difference with a sata III mechanical drive...

Thanks for your input! Now I reset to non raid and re-installed all data with Seagate disc wizard. Did not want to go trough the hassle of another clean re-install. Put my main ssd with windows in bay 1 and still my Intel RST saying it is running only at 3Gb/s I have flashed my bios with A09. Now you guys are saying that I still cannot run my main ssd in 6Gb/s? I guess it is time to trade this machine!

Not in bay 1. It needs to be bay 0. (Top left side)

Yes! I switched bays ran crystaldisk-mark and got a bit better score but RTS still showing ssd running on 3Gb/s. I wonder if it is my bios version as Xenn0X was saying that version by Dell disabled 6Gb/s. (Bios A09)

gotta be on dell bios A08 or lower for to get SATA III speeds. There are also modded bios's for making this work as well. I have my SSD in the center slot, not the other slot i believe (can't remember off the top of my head).

Sometimes it just happen.... :D Mine put it on bay 0 and using Unlocked A08 BIOS but still on SATA 2 speed..... lol....

Even on RST show it SATA 3 6gb/s, but during benchmark, it's only on SATA 2......
