    I think you might be right Tinderbox. I just removed my old CCC, rebooted, driversweep, ran CCleaner, installed these new drivers and app profile to be presented with this;

This seems to be the easiest way for me to find the driver:
    -Open CCC
-Click ATI Radeon icon in the upper right corner (this opens your browser to the driver page)
-Look in the upper right corner of the page where it says: Download Drivers.
-Just click the boxes and select what you have and click: View Results.

That basically means do not install 10.9 on laptops... I am surprised though by that statement. Could it be that they are finally taking all the issues from consumers seriously and are working on them?

Not sure if it's necessary since you install them via Device Manager. ATI's Installer does not provide any selection, no matter the configs and changes you do to the inf or config file. What i do know is that when i last time downloaded 10.8 Mobility package from AMD, i did NOT have to do the workaround. But since we don't get real mobility 10.9, we can wait another month, to know for sure on that.

Didn't really test them so far... but system runs :D And sleep/resume still works with the latest vbios.

Does anyone else have a spastic framerate in BFBC2 since 10.5? other games are fine, but BC2 has a lot of hiccups. It's quite frustrating, even the AW beta driver does it.

Try this for once, maybe NOT with the beta driver from dell and see what you get, anyway if you are currently on BETA driver, test it anyway :D:

    Okay just installed 10.9

    Thanks Grimfan! :)

Well so far so goods. Unplugging and running on battery still works.
Just played some BFC2 and it runs pretty much the same. Still good.
Gonna try some FIFA 11 now.
Everything seems well and good if not really the same.

Okay seems this 10.9 display driver installed through device manager is okay. Not to bads. Seems to be running the same.

Although in FIFA 11 demo my R1 is smashing the pants off the R2 lol. Getting a boost from 62 fps to 100fps after installing the new 260 driver. Where as theres some problem with the ATi cards only running a mere 30 - 40fps. Guess their just not optimised for the game yet.

Luv the Nvidia drivers though. Major performance boost.
    Ah I want a 480 SLi or 470 SLi LOL. :D ;)

Frankly from 10.7's to 10.8's I found a considerable performance boost. I had a problem when my FPS were going as low as 30, and not higher than 70. Now while they still might go to 30 in big explosions, they can hit up to a 100 and more.

    It's a good one, 10.9's I dunno.

well its not that the framerate is low necessarily, its that the game seems to have a little bit of a stutter to it. Not to be confused with clock modulation. I made a video, it might give you a slight idea.

    YouTube - Video0001

the fps counter doesn't really drop low, but look at the scrolling text, see the way it hangs up and doesn't scroll smoothly? That's what the game itself does.

i have tried every single driver version post 10.5a with the exact same results, including the AW beta drivers.

There's not much of anything I can do until AW releases an official driver, I will bug the out of them when they finally do though.

I haven't seen anyone else mention this problem, it seems specific to me, but i can't for the life of me figure out what the problem would be. Other games are fine.

Not sure what could be wrong, but is it the only text scrolling that lags like this, or is there anything wrong ingame, if not, don't care about it.

There could be also the problem with the second gpu not going into 3d clocks with the newest drivers on 4870's, so you might check the second gpu with gpu-z and see if that is performing correctly.

Well i ran World of WarCraft with no issues, the FPS in StarCraft II remained unchanged so i am not sure what the CrossFireX fix in that was. Below is my Vantage score, the system is not overclocked, this seems to have dropped some.

no the scrolling text is just to give you an example of how the game itself hitches like that. Also, yes, both cards jump to full clock speeds. I have it checked to show the Crossfire logo when the game loads, so i know that crossfire is on.

There is one strange thing that i've noticed though, im not able to change the clock settings of the 2nd GPU manually. Not worried about being able to actually change the clocks, im just pointing this out as another irregularity with the post 10.5a drivers ( i have confirmed both issues with 10.6-10.9 including the AW betas) My AMD clock tool thermal page looks like this:

Again, i am not complaining about the inability to change the clock speeds, I am simply showing you another symptom that is specifically related to all ATI drivers post 10.5a for me.

Well i can overclock both cards with RivaTuner very fine, AMD's Tool seems to be outdated and yes it lost that ability some time ago.

Hm, almost forgot, i have BFBC2 aswell, i'm just not playing it, bought it more or less to compare performance to other people here and validate my system somehow :)

Did a quick intro run on it, and the game is indeed stuttering.

Edit: After doing a Vantage run, GPU only, 2 tests, got my results at 14013 GPU Points, almost same as 10.8 with Standard AI, +100 with Advanced AI i assume. But the problem is, if i keep the result page open, the first gpu would not go back to 2D Clocks, only after i closed it. But then the system is changing Memory clocks randomly with 100/150 500/1000 700/1000 and it just acts weird with these Desktop Drivers... So since i don't like such "issues" from optical observation in GPU-Z, i think i will revert back to 10.8 again, where i was more comfortable with. :)

But first i will try to get a modded 10.9a Cat Hotfix installed and see how those do :D

Installed 10.9 drivers and catalyst and all is working fine. Thanks for the link Grimfan. However ran 3dmark06 and lost another 1000 points down from 10.8. Down to 14500. Why are they getting slower each release ???? When I had the original vbios and 10.6 drivers I was getting 16,900 on 3dmark06. After beta vbios and new catalyst versions its been downhill all the way.

Try setting Catalyst AI to Advanced, also maybe you installed other things and stuffed your windows abit from that time back then. I don't think it's very accurate that way, a fresh install from time to time might give back some as lost thought performance :D

Cool, Let us know chiefs if you get a working 10.9a CAT hotfix or something. I would def like to try it out as well. I want to see if I can fix or get better performance out of FIFA 11. Its performing at 100fps on my Nvidia 260s but a woeful 30 - 40fps on the R2 ATi. Performs a little better when I turn off crossfire but yeh a new updated driver or CAT hotfix should be good I reckon.

Man a bug found by AMD huhs, well can't they squash the bug lol ;) and release me the driver anyway eheheheheh :D

    Cheers. :)

Very easy to get the 10.9a running as well i have been running them since release.

Just take the fixed inf from 10.9 and copy the line in the inf file that has your video card. Then copy that line into the 10.9a inf file (just copy and paste the one line not the whole inf)

    Then install through device manager.

So far things seem the exact same as they did on 10.9

oh woops I was thinking about CAP profiles.

Can we get them working as well? I would def like to see some CAP profile support for FIFA 11 or PES 11.

What games do the new 10.9 CAP desktop drivers support? Is there a list somewhere. I can't seem to find it.

I right clicked on the Standard VGA whatever, and then clicked Update Driver Software, Browse my Computer, navigated to C:/ATI/Support/10.9 folder/Packages/Drivers/Display, then selected the folder W76A_INF and clicked ok, and Next, and it still says the best drivers are already installed?!?

Hmm, if you like you can use my modified 10.9a driver "Grim Edition", i took all the relevant info needed from previous official dell releases A00+A01, compared it with examDiff and updated the latest INF on that base.

Here's the whole driver packaged with Winrar or you can take the original 10.9a build and replace only the inf provided, cheers :D

    Configurated for the following cards:

Of course if you like, you can change those lines to your own cool edition, whatever, lol :p

    Install manually via Device Manager:

    Select 2nd VGA graphic card

    (right click) Select Update Drivers

    Select 2nd entry: Install manually

Select lower entry: Choose from a list

Click on Folder and browse to the directory, you saved your Drivers and INF file.

Select (if needed) the correct Driver and installation will prompt you, if you want to install the driver as it's not signed (Note: this is a Hotfix and therefor not WHQL, this has nothing to do with the mod itself)

Reboot when prompted (Give it some time)

If you get some OSD errors the first time rebooting, just reboot a second time and the driver will work correctly after that.

Reset CCC to default, play games, enjoy! :D

PS: If you run into any major issues, please let me know, but i'm good things it works nicely for you guys aswell. I'm currently using it aswell. Wanna see how this works when i get my copy of FFXIV later this week. Other games i tested with app profiles installed, like Mafia 2, SC2 and BFBC2 run great.

Thanks very much! Downloading/Installing now! The release notes I read somewhere said it fixes the constant CTDs on BC2 and I have those every 10-20 mins.

They seem to be releated to those Microsoft C++ redistributables, uninstall all of them 2005, 2008 etc., you only want to keep those that are actually installed from the earlier ATI Install Manager, check this thread which ones i have, and i never had a CTD so far:
