no way around the driver will not install
-
Not via ATI Install Manager, use Device manager and install as manual as possible with the description given.
-
windows say that the lastes driver is installed and refuse to do anything
-
Then you are not manually updating the driver or you are not on VGA driver. What is your complete hardware id for your cards?
-
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_944A&SUBSYS_207A161F&REV_00
but even editing the inf you gave return no result
also i can't get back to vga window alway get to reinstall a b**** driver that say 4850 WDDM1.1
i though such isssue where miths LOL i never had any issue instalin non verified driver befor -
"Grim Edition Mobility Radeon HD 4850" = ati2mtag_M9x8, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_944A
Try using it with this line, and make sure you always take the bottom option when you manually install the drivers in device manager. -
thanks it's half working now
i need to press f8 on each boot and i can't enable CFX -
Aww that sucks -_-'
Maybe it's not for your specific card then, it's really just more or less an updated dell inf adjusted to the 10.9a specifications.
Does your Card support the official Dell A01 8.763 drivers? -
it suport it half time kinda like it' now
UPDATE thanks it's now working it just seem like my slave had not updated to the right driver -
Oh, nice job, good for you. let us know if this is something for you HD4800 users or if the cards still behave weird and don't throttle right.
PS: Don't forget to install App profiles 10.9 and reset CCC to default factory settings. -
my 4850 nve throtteled wierd in fact with the original vbios they had no throteling value i had to edit mine to get some and never had trouble with it
-
I meant bad/negative scaling of GPU load in some games, sorry, not actual clock throttling
-
scalin in sc2 is perfect and it seem like they fixed the micro stutering issu in some custom games
-
Yeah it's a fine driver imo, gonna stay with that for now and see what i get with FFXIV and Dead Rising 2 later this week.
And next month with Fallout and MoH, and the new drivers 10.10 i will have plenty to test aswell. I'll be busy nonetheless the last 3 months of the year
Cheers
PS: BTW, your slave in device manager should be the 1st card, so always update the "second" (master) card first
-
I seem to be getting... not good framerates in BC2... Yes I have the 10.9 Catalyst Application Profiles, going to check to see both cards are maxing out.
-
Really, once the level is loaded i get 45-60 fps consant(cap@60VsyncOn).
Did you reset CCC to factory default?
Also how high is your AA in game? I'm using 1x AA. -
Clocks on 2nd gpu are going up, but usage average is only 25%.... why??
-
In fullscreen? Logging in the background? I have both GPU's at nearly full load... o.o'
I get aswell 100% on 1st GPU and 25% on 2nd GPU when i just ALT-TAB back to windows and then check GPU-Z, but when i switch back, both cards are up in full load again. -
I put it on average, and looked at the little graph... also my framerate is about 1/2 that on 10.8 dell drivers
-
Had enough of these low framerates.... hopefully that microsoft C++ thingy fixed the ctds, cause I'm going back..
-
Huh weird, i just noticed bad scaling aswell in BFBC2, after playing SC2, went into CCC reverted back to factory defaults, GPU's scaled back to ~98% in BFBC2 again.
Seems as i have to do this now everytime before i play BFBC2, i will take note about reverting to factory default in CCC, as a workaround for now. -
Wow.. Just wow... I've been experiencing such bad fps with native res until I installed your inf grim. Thank you soo much, Now getting 57fps with everything maxed in city. (Ambiant Occ is off.) 4x AA on, Running 100x better.. I was using 1200x800 with all on low having like 20fps in city..... this is fantastic, Kudos
-
FFXIV? Fullscreen 1920x1200?
And no throttling after a while, how long did you play? With the open beta i had the issue that these drivers worked like 5 minutes, then the gpu's would only scale/load only 50% each.
I'm excited, if this holds up. Should get it on wednesday
PS: Ambient Occlusion is a b*tch i know ^^ -
yes, fullscreen of course ^^ Looks amazing, Though it still does lag when I first walk in to a crowded area (network lag I believe) takes awhile for everyone to appear, feels a bit choppy but fps is still around 55-59) I think the servers just suck haha.
-
What server you going to be playing on? I'm playing on Istory. (had the best ping for me)
-
I really hate how alt-tabbing crashes FFxiv each time....
-
Yeah, that's probably a server change when you change areas, that always gave a little more hickup as normal. But if you have such fps, i think the game should feel more or less fluid.
BTW: Got the game a day earlier, just checked the mail
We'll see if i can tag along aready or if i have to wait for tomorrow, i'll try. ^^
-
some games are liek this on pupose to prevent your from runing a process hoocker but that is useless as usual there are always work around
-
FFXIV has a build in window mode, so what's the point crashing on purpose in fullscreen S-E lol
And i just tried the 10.9a driver, scaling is completly random lol, once i get 100% on both cards for like 5 minutes, then i get 50% load on each, then it stays like this. If i set window size buffer to doubled window, i get good scaling on both cards, but fps stays low. Nothing is fix yet, too bad FFXIV doesn't behave well. The other games i tested with this driver are smooth running.
That FFXIVConfig is also something i don't understand. Gonna try WHQL 10.9, if that does not work either, then i think i'll give 10.8 ATI reference driver another go, which i think had good experience earlier. -
Hi , i am new of this forum , i am a m17x r2 owner , I7 920 XM, 4 gb ram 1333 , crossfire 5870, 500 gb hard disk 7200 rpm, i have just installed grimfan ATI 10.9a modded inf, (thanks for your job
) , i have ati application profile 10.9 and Brian 's Vbios.
I want ask if someone play company of heroes and in initial start have a little flickering, near the barrack
which disappear after the game started.
I have tried all the driver 10.8 , dell beta , official dell driver, latest dell, but i have always a bit flickering in the initial start of this game, during the match , sometimes other bit flickering , but the game is playable, and if i scroll with my mouse over the image where is the flickering , the same back normal.
I have this trouble only with crossfire activated , if i set one 5870 , the game is very good without flickering.
What can i do for this?
Is this normal?
Someone of you have the same?
Thank you for answer , and I am sorry for my english, I must improve it
.
-
I really hope so! I feel like I'm going to have my hopes crushed. Question though I have about the FFXIV Config. What is the buffer setting? It had some weird selections. (Ie, Resolution, half window size, third window size). Which Vbios should I run with it? I currently have the latest from Dell, as well as their catalyst drivers.
I really thought this laptop would be able to stomp on any game and run max settings.
-
What do you expect, the game just released, as you say the ffxivconfig is confusing and looks like a dev kit app, ATI has not released a proper mobility driver since the game launched and they even skipped this months Catalyst for mobility chips. There, that should give you even more questions to think about
Have patience and try to get the best out of it, hope Sabaku can provide some more detail on his settings he is using.
Hey there, you can try to minimze that by enabling V.Sync or in RadeonPro by setting TextureLOD raising a little. -
Thank you very much Grimfan for your answer , i want to try what you have said
, but i don t know where i can enable v-sync, i have Control Catalyst Center installed.
-
So what should I do? Should I wait for the 10.10 drivers? I'm honestly on the verge of returning it to Dell and pumping all that cash into a powerful desktop. Perhaps I'll call Alienware and see what the return policy is, maybe if it's 90 Days I can wait it out and see how the 10.10 Drivers are. If I'm happy then I'll stick with it.
I'm so torn
-
30 day return policy. Stick with it, you won't be sorry. the 10.10 drivers will be good.
-
@Grimfan
I just finished downloading your drivers. I tried uninstalling via the uninstall manager from ATI and my computer BSOD'ed on me. Now my system won't reboot. I had to do a restore point to able to get it to boot again. All these blue screen errors make me want to rip my hair out.
@Turmoil
I really hope so man, I REALLLLLY hope so. -
I'm so confused.
every time I try uninstalling I'm getting a blue screen error.
Then I tried to do it manually like you wrote in previous posts through the device manager. I thought I had them installed correctly. I rebooted and got a slew of errors saying that these are the wrong drivers. -
jekt you'r a bit fast to return it if FFVI is the only issue you have you should not as it's a game that is still in it's early phases so it WILL have bug pit fall etc
you should run the default driver fromd ell for now -
That's one of the biggest reasons I purchased it for. If it doesn't run the main game I plan on playing for the next year or two, then I'm not going to waste my $4,000. Lets not forget the issues that have been listed all over the forums, the blue screen errors. I just never had to deal with so much bad crap all at once.
-
Comfort, you get the BSOD because when you uninstall the latest driver, you are going obviously on a driver prior 10.8 Catalyst which is not compatible to the latest vbios. We all have to wait for a better driver for this game, i've seen what is possible with 10.9a and if it would not scal only 50% after 5 minutes ingame, the performance would be very acceptable. I also bought this laptop more or less for FFXIV, but hey, i found games i did not even think i would play and they all worked flawlessly. We cannot only blame ATI on this one for now, as SquareEnix did not really develop this game for their driver. So out of many few games, FFXIV is not working correctly yet on CFX.
If you don't have the patience to get to known with this system and what you can and can't do, then you should sell it
-
Do you think that Alienware will release an M17x with GTX 480m's in the near future?
-
Why would they? The 480m is a power hungry card that doesn't deliver the performance for which it costs. They might offer the 470m though. -
Hey Grim. Any idea why installing the Hotfix driver with the modded .inf always get past the "Install anyway" prompt, then fails saying this driver is not designed for this version of windows?
It makes no sense since it is the correct Vista/7 X64 driver and the only change is the additional lines to the .inf for the 5870m. I was able to get the official 10.9's installed but the 10.9a drivers simply refuse to agree that this is the Windows they are looking for.
EDIT: NM found out why. Wasn't adding our exact deviceid of our 5870.. It was close but ours is just that different.. Phoie. -
I tried this on my m17x w/ 5870's and works except on the switch to 10.9a (grims version) I see xfire briefly in ccc then it flickers and BSD's on me. DOH!
Strange as I think my setup is the same as Grims (GPUz snap is the same) -
My issue was that the BIOS on the Alienware m17x needed to be on A09 (current release). Was on A08. Have xfire now.
