With my 580M, the 304.48 betas install and perform well enough, but both HWINFO64 and GPU-Z report that they keep the 580M at P0/3D (max) clocks (in this instance 700/825 (1650)) even after it has exited the graphics program, here 3dMark11. Idle temps are marginally higher and seem to verify the higher clocks. Both also report .92v most of the time notwithstanding that the vbios has a top voltage setting of 87v, probably a false reading like we saw in the 301 Series, but can't be certain yet. Not quite ready for prime time with the 580M, but perhaps it works better with the 600M series.

I used the drivers all today, and not a single TDR error... tried a variety of games, generally the framerate is good. The test area in Skyrim I used scored about ... 3-5 FPS higher with these, so the performance is decent.

However for some reason I get really awful Starcraft 2 performance with these drivers on my 580m. I tweaked with settings, both in the nvidia cpanel and starcraft and could not get a decent framerate (I'd often times get low 30's just starting the game with no units on screen)

Reverted to the 296.10 drivers to test, and my Starcraft 2 FPS went back to solid 60 with vsync. Not sure what's going on, but I'll let you guys know if I find out.

might be that earlier drivers didn't have ambient occlusion support for sc2

I'm not installing any 3XX series drivers on my 580m the reason being is that they are Kepler optimised and have special APIs in there that boost your power consumption etc as reported by many people seeing higher voltages in GPUz. I myself use the 0.92v vbios and run into throttling with any 3XX series drivers due to it trying to ramp up the GPU which I believe is no good for the it.

I don't play Skyrim or anything so I don't mind missing out on the performance increases of that game. Honestly I'm just playing it out and waiting for the GTX 680m.

Ahaaa widezu69, that is why I tried the 0.92v and it ran crap? Because even after gaming for hours my GPU never goes above 60C... so I wanted to push the clocks to 800/ 1800 but it never worked very well

OK off to test it out....

went back to 296 drivers, and jacked up the clocks to 800/ 1800.

Only got P15251 3DMarks in Vantage, with the 3xx drivers on 750/1800 I get over 16,000.

    Hmmmm :/

I updated to the beta driver today thinking that it might be the cause of some of the problems I've been having. My FPS in TF2 dropped from 60 to around 25...
I know TF2 updated, too, but I think it's the graphics driver. Did you have any FPS drop?

Just tried them on my M17xr3 w/ 460m and it halved my FPS on TF2.
Either that or the E08 unlocked bios f*ed me. One or the other

Hi, you can try reinstalling the video drivers one more time following this instructions.

Let me know how it goes.

Try whitelisting the tf2 .exe and see what happens. That might fix your issue. If you dont know how check the guide in my sig. Hope this helps!!

I can confirm that these drivers do hit TF2 framerates hard. They also hit Starcraft framerates insanely... making the game almost unplayable with many units on screen. As it stands, I probably will take another look at the non-beta release of these drivers.

AW support on the forums? That's awesome guys. ALMOST makes me wish I would have spent the extra dough to get a 17x and 7970M with the same config as my sammy. :)

It does work for the R1 since I'm running them. If you mean hybrid graphics, no that doesn't work anymore, that is Fn-F7 doesn't work, but you can still switch settings in BIOS. If you want hybrid graphics, use 2xx drivers. 3xx drivers seem to pop out more fps when FXAA is used. Older games are bit slower.

In attachment zip with 2 files that need to be patched in the Display.Driver dir where drivers are extracted. Only patched for 260M and 9400M (don't have ID's of 280's). Clean install + make sure all video cards enabled when installing. If you want to use SLI, don't forget to disable both hybrid graphics and integrated graphics after installation in BIOS. restart and enable SLI in Nvidia control panel.
