I have one and love it!! The 6990m is a very good graphics card. The only thing that would hold me back from purchasing that one is the 900p display. I have never seen the 900p display in person, but from what I heard it is not nearly as nice as the 1080p. What did you not like about the MSI? If I was in your situation I would shell out the extra cash and get a new M17x with the 1080p display and the 7970m graphics card. I also like the new MSI GT70 I know in Canada you can get one with great specs for $1499.

Big tip: Go to the computer sale forums here on NBR. I've sold two AW M17X laptops here, it's awesome.

You can usually get a better deal, with better specs and still have some warranty.

I agree about the 900p lcd. It's not as good. If you aren't ever really going to use the lcd on the laptop, though, it wouldn't matter as much.

I have the 900p screen and it looks decent with some tweaks, but the extra resolution is always better. That is one thing I have regretted not getting upgraded when I bought it. :(

Or even the Dell outlet has a ton of M17xR3's now

edit: well, they did yesterday, now just 8. They had some pretty good ones yesterday.
