I just won an alienware m17x from ebay
i'd like to know what can i do with this beast as these are the specs :D

    -Processor Intel Core2 Extreme Quad QX9300 / 2.53 GHz
    -Installed Size 4.0 GB
    Technology DDR3 SDRAM
    -Hard Drive 500.0 GB - 7200.0 rpm
-Type Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
-Graphics Processor / Vendor Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M, 2GB SLI Enabled
    Video Memory 2.0 GB
-OS Provided Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English

please let me know is this a good deal for an alienware m17x?
i believe qx9300 processor has the same speed as i7 920xm
i'd love to play crysis, battlefield badcompany2, gta 4 all on highest settings
    with high fps(50++)
    is that possible? :)

Hmm, I don't game much, but you have to consider that the 920XM runs 8 threads, where as the QX9300 only runs 4 sunce it's only a Core2Duo quad core. The 920XM is a quad core with hyper threading. Also those GPU's are on the low end of the spectrum, but it should still play those games, I think. I'm not sure. Hopefully somone else can offer better insight in the gaming department. I don't see it playing crysis at 50+ fps on max settings though.

Yeah, you never said what the price was, Sir. The CPU is a beast. Get an SSD for your primary, and keep that 500GB for your secondary drive. I don't know how much more powerful the Nvidia 280s are, or if getting them is even an option. It's a good system, and will serve you well. Don't forget to tell us the price though.

i could say the processor qx9300 will be a beast on this laptop
as what i saw last time the price of qx9300 and 920xm are the same :D
has anyone used nvidia 260m SLI/DUAL before?
pls let me know the peformance thanks!

That's a pretty good deal all things considered. My M17x was a bit over 1100 shipped, so I would say you indeed got a deal.

Don't forget to extend that warranty!

scook9 was benching up over 4.0GHz with his M17x R1 which had a QX9300. He's the guy you want to talk to when your new toy arrives. :D

CPU-Z at 4333 MHz is nothing short of a miracle and definitely something to look forward to.

Hey theres chiefs. Yeh I've got the dual 260s. They are great cards. Still run most games at the top maxed out level. They are getting a bit old however still perform very well. Also with your CPU power it will definitely boost your gaming experience as well. My Q9000 is nothing compared to your QX9300 oles!
Also with the abundance of new drivers that come out like every 2nd day from Nvidia lol you'll get great support for them for a long time to come yet. ;)

I'm still able to play all the newest and recent game releases at high to maxed out settings. So gaming on the beast is still a pleasure.

    My R1 gets over 100fps in FIFA 11 while R2 gets 30 - 40fps LOL. ;) :D
CMON AMD where are my 10.10 Catalyst mobility Drivers!!!

    Cheers. :)

the seller did not reply any of my messages
when i made the payment on ebay, he immidiately do the shipment for me without saying any word.

I just received the tracking number which i'm happy about.
As i'm staying in Singapore, i'd like to ask him to fill the international transfer form which is good for me to transfer the warranty to singapore.
I've sent about 10 messages to him but still no respond :(

Is it possible if i give dell a call and ask them to transfer the warranty without his/her biodata/first owner information?
    please help :(

I would keep copies of all the emails, and I would also give Dell a call. They should be able to point you in the right direction. Make sure to keep records of everything to prove that you purchased the item.

What is your local customs policy? I think you'd get charged for a hefty amount of money if he put down the full price paid on the dispatch note.

You have a nvidia 9400 because the laptop is in stealth mode and you need to enable the proper graphics card in the bios or via the nvidia software.

That said if you only have a Q9000 cpu then you have been stiched up and should return and get a refund.

Did you ever get the warranty transfered? If you did, then I would complain to dell about the stuttering. If that works they might move you to an R2 with a 820 possibly. I would think it through first. The stuttering could get bad on the R1 depending on what you do.
