Okay so this is a common problem with these NVIDIA cards. I went to one of the PC shops and they took a look in my laptop made sure everything worked including the hardware and said the bios wasn't detecting the NVIDIA 580M card. So I just wanted to replace the video card with An AMD Radeon 6990M card because this card is a bit cheaper and less likely to have an overheating issue. I recently called a dell spare part representative (about two weeks ago),and she said that dell doesn't carry that particular part anymore (brand new specifically not refurbished) . I mean I would understand if it was a three year old part or something but I had this computer for a year and a half and you don't have any spare video cards.. really?

But anyways I have a few questions:
    • What are some options if I have to upgrade my video card
    • Does the video card come with a three month warranty?
    • Is dell going to any brand new AMD Raedon 6990M video card or Its out of stock permenantly.

I just want just the card itself not the kit shipped. If any dell representative is available

Don't get me wrong it is an awesome computer  but It's just a hassle to call repeatedly to figure If they have a particular part or not.

My rule is, never buy spares from dell, unless your arm is stuck in a wood chipper, dell rapes customers on spare parts.

Moreover there are so many other avenues available with same parts, just a lot cheaper and faster. eBay/pchub/partspeople/NBR forums. Partspeople is my pick as shipping is super fast but tad expensive, pchub is cheap wi free shipping but takes 3-4 weeks for parts to arrive, eBay can be super fast or super slow, depending on the seller. Either way all are better than dell, once I asked dell for sata imposer, $75 plus $32 shipping and 8 weeks wait. Checked on eBay, $5 with free shipping and I had the part within 2 weeks.

Thanks for the info.. I recently checked Reborn2003 thread to see If he has the part available

Tell me about it.. :). But I would prefer to buy it off from dell because I have a dell credit account that can cover the replacement video card

And also if you get it from DELL and the machine's warranty is updated you will get warranty on that spare part as well.
