    Good Afternoon,

Recently my 7970m died and would no longer allow the system to post. I removed the card and have been able to use the system with the integrated sandy bridge graphics but found a reasonably priced 780m on ebay. The BIOS shows the NVIDIA GFX present so I'm assuming the card is functional. In the A12 unlocked BIOS I've disabled HD Audio, set the graphics to PEG, and disabled the integrated graphics. I'm running windows 10 and Device Manager shows the card as a Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. I've tried to install the Eurocom drivers, the latest laptopvideo2go drivers with the updated .inf and each time the graphics drivers fail to install. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the vbios or if there is something I am overlooking. If anyone has experience or guidance regarding the windows 10 nvidia driver install I would greatly appreciate the help.

So I figured it out, I needed to disable driver signature enforcement.

I had to replace my ATI Radeon graphics in my Alienware M17r3 with an Nividia 680M card. That thread should still be on the forum. Basically, you have to strip the NVidia drivers of the metadata because Dell did not authenicate the Nvidia drivers for Microsoft Windows (they probably prefer to sell you a whole new laptop). Without the metadata to identify the drivers, Windows should warn you about installing 'strange' drivers and give you the option to install. Now I am running Windows 7 Ultimate because Dell does not support Windows 10 on my particular model. So therefore, YVMV (Your Mileage [experience] May Vary from mine). If I can dig out any information from my setup, please post since I am following the thread.

I ended up installing the drivers from the Eurocom page for the M17x R3. They aren't the most up to date but I'm not using this as my primary gaming pc I just wanted to restore it to working order. 7970m were almost as much as this 780m ended up being so I feel good knowing I've basically maxed the system out. At the moment I'm not able to get the audio working but that is a well documented conflict. I'm using external speakers as it is since I believe the internal speakers are blown, so I am just getting a cheap usb sound card from bestbuy to get my sound back.
