Hey guys, just need some quick help here. I have the alienware m17x with the vizio wireless hd bundle. Now i was able to connect to the tv without any trouble, but not everything is fitting on the screen.
I have the M17x with the internal wireless HD card, and I also purchased the vizio bundle from dell. i have the vizio wireless HD transmitter hooked up to my Samsung HLT6187s t.v. Then i go to my laptop and click on the WiHD controller program on my desktop and click connect. The laptop automatically connects to the Vizio transmitter and i am now able to see everything im doing on my laptop on my big screen t.v., but this is where the problem lies, not everything fits. The start menu on the bottom left is only about half there the other half appears to be off screen, same thing goes for the date and time which is supposed to be on the bottom right of the screen but all i can see is half while the other half seems to be off screen.
I would just like some help if someone knows how to fix this problem, it is quite irritating.

Have you tried adjusting resolution?

It is called overscan. TV's are configured at factory to overscan so you don't see noise line at the edge of the picture. All TV's have it and it is retarded as it is way more then would be reasonable (1-2 lines).
It is easily fixable by adjusting the desktop size of the external screen. Look for the setting in your GPU control panel.
Another method would be to see if your TV set has adjustment to reduce the overscan but you may see edge artifacts when watching regural TV. -
hello guys thank you to you both for your quick responses. I have tried adjusting my resolution through windows display settings, however it did not work. i know about the over scan which is why i tried adjusting the scan on my tv to no avail. Gandalf your solution of trying through my gpu display settings sounds promising i will try that. sorry it took so long to reply i am not at home right now so didnt get a chance to respond, but i appreciate the quick responses.

Is your display the same aspect resolution as to what your TV is? I noticed my M14x with the 1600 display (using the same vizio bundle you probably got) overlapped a TON more than my M17x does (due to it being the same aspect ratio).
Just a suggestion.
