    Recently got this babe.
But now I'm bogged down by the bag options for this laptop!

I want a messenger bag for this as it will not only have to fit my laptop but books and stationery as well.

So far, I've fixed my eyes on the Crumpler Cashmere Blazer.
But lo and behold, the laptop sleeve isn't big enough for the m17x.

Should I get a seperate laptop sleeve with this bag? And I've noticed there aren't many options for laptop sleeves as well, any suggestions?

The Cashmere Blazer is HUGE and it LOOKS GOOD. So I'll try to accomodate it as much as possible.
Here's the plan: seperate laptop sleeve to protect the m17x. then the existing one in the m17x shall be used to put books instead.
    Thoughts?

I used a company named SLAPPA and they do make a messenger bag big enough for your needs.

    Slappa makes amazing bags

They are very spacious as well. Also if you do go backpack the targus xl is the best it fits 2 M17x's and a M15x at the same time

There's a glowing review from Bluekornchips here on the Alienware Orion Backpack.

It's one option, but there are a few alternatives around that look better/worse depending on your personal tastes. Try searching the forum, I think there are a few threads on this topic.

    +1 for SLAPPA

I have the M.A.S.K, and it has plenty on room and padding for the M17x. It also has a little padded compartment that I didn't not know what it's for. Then it clicked...my M11x fits perfectly in it. So in the laptop compartment, it has two padded areas, one for a 17" and another for a netbook. Then it has another compartment with enough room to fit an xbox360 plus accessories (in that compartment I carry logitech g13+g35 and xcel battery back. The zipper compartments in the front fit the power adapters for both the m17x and the m11x.

From what I've seen, it the perfect backpack for the m17x + m11x combo. But just to warn you...it does not come with a warranty for your future back issues :p

Orion messenger is only $75.00 compared to Ballistix P-Tac PRO- Black

Also trust me it's more than enough for M17x, you can also fit 2 if you like!

    +1 for SLAPPA.
I use the SPYDER bag, and it has plenty of space to fit the beast.
I flew to Brazil and had my wife's M1710 and the M17x both with chargers, mice etc. and i still had some room left for 2 books and other stuff.

Ever had any carry on luggage weight issues on the airport?

I see on Lufthansa, carry on luggage allowance is only 8kg and I am worried I'll go over that with m17x, m11x, adapters, mamba and a backpack - and most likely some snacks (cross-atlantic trip). Will probably get 1 of SLAPPA you recommended.

Did you guys have any problems with that?

Most airlines seem to ignore the weight limit for carryons. I know my bag blows past 15 kilos easily, and probably is closer to 40lbs. Still fits in the overhead just fine, and I can remove it with as little trouble.

I cannot recommend the SLAPPA PTAC messenger bag. It is a nice bag, but the built-in "sleeve" for the notebook is just too tight for the M17xR2. It fits, mind you, but it is very snug. The velcro flap that goes over the "sleeve" does not velcro because the M17x is too big. Lastly, with everything closed and the plastic buckles snapped and tightened, when you lift up on the bag, the weight of the bag puts a lot of strain on the top flap (the outside one with the top handle). It's almost like the top flap and the bottom compartment want to separate. SLAPPA should have side connectors that connect the top flap to the sides for more strength.

I like all the compartments, and the looks, but it just seems like it isn't made to fit the thickness and weight of the M17xR2.

I've had the AW messenger bag and the backpack. The messenger bag seemed to loose its form after a year and there were some tears in it. I have the Orion backpack now and aside from the inside mouse pocket ripping at the stitches (I use it for a mouse pocket anyways) it is a decent bag. But I am looking at the Slappa KOA MASK and all the reviews on it have been great. And both the Orion backpack and the Slappa are made out of the same ballistic nylon. I believe the messenger bag from AW was too.

Does anyone know if the M17x R2 will fit in

    Samsonite Traditional Attachés Aluminum Attache

    without cramming it in?

I'm looking for a tough airport-safe case or bag (not backpack) that can fit it + all accessories & an inch or two of papers & another inch or two of software.

If it's a case like the samsonite that's a hard shell though just fitting the laptop & accessories is enough, i can carry software & papers in a seperate bag if need be.

Somewhere in these forums were pictures of the Targus Soft Touch backpack with an M17x in it, and while the laptop fit it was a little tight around the top where the zip went. You pretty much had the fabric behind the zip sitting right on the laptop's shell, meaning that there was very little protection.

I'm currently looking at the Timbuk2 Superbad, which has plenty of room and is fairly stylish. You can order it direct from the site for $US90 (incl international shipping, less for US), which isn't the cheapest option but may well be worth it.

    Hey,

There is a another video on youtube of the same E3 unveiling here: YouTube - E3 M17X Unveiling Inside

Watch when the MIB guy opens the case, you can see two distinct indented lines running horizontal on the top of the case. That case was definitley a Matias Laptop Armor Slim case in aluminum.

I cannot see any horizontal lines on the cases that there passed through the window in the video you posted, however...strange.

The AlienArmor is a Matias case, but not the slim version, this thing is very thick.

I got one at Christmas last year, it works great, TONS of pockets, holds everything together, and the thing zips right open in half for airport screening (which i've also done). They were a little suspicious at such a *heavy* laptop though, but the bag itself is awesome and has help up just fine.

Thanks. I think that's the same because of the feet. In the picture at the website it looks like it only fits the laptop and not the power brick though. Do they expect you to carry that in a seperate bag? It definately looks cool, but if that's the case it's not diverse enough for me.

I dont know if its just me but theres just something about walking in a LAN party with an Orion Alienware backpack and unloading your massive Alienware m17x R2. I guess its the all powerful aura that affects people who dont have one. But if you do have one, you'd know better. Just look at all the issues posted here. hehehe.

If only the all powerful aura would improve my gaming skills.

Hi guys! I'm new to this forum.

I have found a bag that would be perfect for my m17x r2...it's the Slappa PTAC Matrix Sleeve
Ballistix PTAC Matrix Laptop Sleeve by SLAPPA

Because of the size of the laptop, I can't decide between the 17'' and the 18'' versions. I know that the m17x is big.

M17x Dimensions: Width 406mm/15.98inches. Depth 321.2mm/12.65inches. Maximum Height 53.7mm/2.11 inches.

    17" Sleeve Dimensions
    - Laptop Compartment Dimensions 17.25"(w) x 12.75"(h)

    18" Sleeve Dimensions
    - Laptop Compartment Dimensions 18.25"(w) x 13.25"(h)

They don't say me the height of the compartments...so it's also more difficult to choose...I've also found on a webstore that the height of the bag is 2cms...and the alienware's height is 5,3cms...could this be a problem?

    Really thanks for your help

This. I have the Ballistix and it's the best bag I've ever had. A little hefty, but built like a bullet-proof vest and simple, yet versitily design.

It's actually works great for me as an overnight bag even with the laptop in it.

    I agree.

The SLAPPA back packs (in particular) look fantastic but I couldn't justify the price difference between the Alienware Orion Back Pack and the SLAPPA (AU$87 vs AU$180).

Is it really almost AU$100 better than the Orion?

    Cheers
