    Hi Guys,

i have an opportunity to get a 2920xm...dirt cheap.

What i need to know from those that have played with them is when overclocking to 4ghz, what are your temps, how hard is it to get there?

Do you have stability issues when stressing 2920 CPU over an extended period of time at around 4ghz.

if i do get this, looks like my new i7 2820 is going up for sale ;)

Hey, if you click on my user name, and go to the threads I have created, there should be one on OC'ing the CPU. I have it on 4.3Ghz stable on all cores for benching and bragging :D but I usually have it on 37/37/39/40 with 4Ghz on one core for everyday use. Temps are ok maxing out under 90C under intense stuff and under 70C for casual mid use such as videos and gaming.

PS Feel free to get in touch for tips and tricks.

For my everyday on I use 70/99w but that's not all though. I dunno whether you can do it with the ordinary bios but I use the modded bios and I have the current at 111 amps (default 97a). For constant 4Ghz around 80w should be enough with 110 amps.

when you say modded bios, are you referring to the unlocked bios...or is it a different one?

I'm currently running the A08 unlocked bios also...i don't think it contains the 580m throttle removal so it should almost be the same as yours

GAWD!!! I'm so torn. Should I get the 2920 or not? The temptation is killin me :D

Well do you need it? That is the question. I got mine as I do heavy processing on 1080p video but I can't deny that there was some element of desire as well :D

If the price were right, I'd jump all over it. I love having a powerful processor as I need it

The price is right. I'm thinking that I might take the plunge if i sell my i7 2820, if not, i can get full advertised speeds via XTU so i'm not in a real rush

I did post a feeler, but there is a rule that you can't sell QS CPU's in the marketplace.

I'd say about $260..its brand new, i've had it less than 2 weeks lol

QS are qualification samples...they are essentially OEM versions...all the same specs, functionality and performance, but at half the price :D
