My R4 Computrace setting in the bios shows as [ Activate ] and it is greyed out.

My confusion is whether this means its activated or deactivated permanently.

Originally it was showing [ Deactivated ] in blue. I fiddled with the option thinking I would activate it.

Then of course it tells you the choice cannot be undone. I believe I clicked activate.

And then it became greyed out and shows [ Activate ]. Is it active or inactive?

    Thanks in advance.

My understanding is that once it's turned on, its turned on and cannot be turned off. :(

I am wary of that...but my query is based on my current reflection on the bios as i have described earlier..does it indicate it has been activated or deactivated?

    [ Activate ] = means active?

Yes, if it says Activated, then the Computrace is enabled and running in concert with the Absolut Lowjack software. I just went thru this with my cousin's new XPS. There are three states for the Computrace option: Disabled, Enabled, Activated. Disabled turns it off completely, Enabled means its on in the BIOS, but the software isn't active in Windows, and Activated means its on and the locator is running. I know when it's Enabled, you can set it to Disabled, but once it's Activated, the BIOS option is locked by the software as part of the security feature.

Well is there a way to communicate with Dell and inform them that i do not want it since I am the valid owner of the system. I dont have computrace service enabled etc.

Yes, you need to contact Dell and they will get in touch with Absolut and to see if the Computrace is really active or if it's just an error within your BIOS.
