From what I understand, you added an SSD to your system, and want to use it alongside your original HDD, but boot off the SSD. While this isn't a guide, here's what you can do:

1- Install your SSD drive into the empty hard disk slot on your laptop
2- Boot into Windows with your original HDD
2- Download and install EASEUS Todo Backup home (it's free)
Free Download EASEUS Data Recovery Software, Data Backup Software, Partition Manager Software.
3- Use EASEUS to perform a disk clone of your original HDD to your SSD. The program will automatically resize the partitions for you, but keep in mind if your original HDD's current capacity exceeds the SSD's capacity then this won't work.
4 - After the disk clone is complete, shut down the system, and go into the BIOS to change the boot order so that your SSD drive is listed first. If it boots into Windows, then you should be good to go. To confirm that your SSD is now indeed the boot drive, look in disk management to see which drive is listed as the boot drive, or you can also simply remove the old HDD from the system and see if the system boots with the SSD. :)

I don't have an M17x but I've done this kind of thing on my old m9700 and my Gateway FX. Honestly though, your best bet is to just reinstall Windows with the SSD. Hope this helped.

Or you could back up all you personal files, and just perform a clean install of windows on to the SSD - cleaner and maybe better than cloning....just a thought....oops, just noticed that was already suggested above ^^^^^
