Hello, I am trying to flash the vBios of my M17X R1's 5870m's... but it looks like I forgot how to actually flash the cards with atiflash.

I created a bootable DOS usb stick, and then I type this command:
    atiflash -p 0 REV1.rom

However... I keep getting the message "This program cannot be run in DOS mode."

I have put all the atiflash files on the usb stick along with the bios... am I missing something?

lmao you both have cloud avatars

You probably downloaded atiwinflash and not atiflash. Your command syntax is correct.

Here is the link I downloaded ati flash from: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ati-atiflash/

I think this is the DOS version, going to try it now: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=373574

Just trying to reflash to stock vBios to see if I can fix this strange Crossfire issue I have. When Crossfire is enabled it is fine at first, but then after a few minutes the frames in game drop way below what Crossfire disabled would push out.

Haha hell yeah FFVII all the way, can't wait to play the remake on PC one day ;)

did you get it to flash?

    PS: ff8 > ff7 :p

PPS: Let me know if/when you want to move on from your M17x. I have a place ready for it in my mini alienware musem for preservation, I think you have the best example in existence :D

Yeah, I got it to flash, but I have a strange issue in when crossfire in enabled. The screen begins to shake, but there aren't any artifacts. I think the Crossfire cable itself may be the issue. I'll record the issue if you want to see.

Also, I found some Bios to flash the 5870M to the 6870M, I may give that a go to see if that can give it some performance boost. It's on the Tech Inferno forums but I have to wait until my account is upgraded before I am able to download them and try sadly :( https://www.techinferno.com/index.p...-mr-5870-mod-to-6870m-with-overdrive-support/

Yeah, I'll let this laptop go eventually, just curiosity got the best of me and I want to see what is the absolute maximum performance potential of this M17X. But crossfire is acting up atm.

Don't bother with the vBIOS. It's more likely that you have a driver issue (try the omega catalyst preview, those are the final drivers for Terascale 2 cards) or your secondary card is on its way out to PC component heaven.
