Anyone know what part this should be.

    H609T Module,Hard Drive,500,7.2,#2,SGT-HOLL,XLO

I was expecting a Seagate Momentus 7200 rpm drive, don't know if XLO means something different.

Just took delivery of my m17x R2. Turns out it was DOA. I think it might just be in need of a drive format/reinstall.

In case everything checks out after the install, I'm trying to figure out what to do about the drive. Looks like they sent me the wrong one. I'm guessing they just swapped the drive out and put into the refurb depot.

Also, the machine was supposed to be configured in RAID 1. Looking at the Win7 Install screen, I see both drives are duplicates/mirror as I expect. What happens if I go to a standard AHCI mode, no RAID 1?

What happens to those massive restore partitions. Will they still work after going AHCI? What happens if I get rid of them?

    Oles chiefs.

If you change the Hard drive options in the BIOS from RAID 1 to ACHI you will be breaking the detection. So the next time you boot up it will say no OS detected. When you want to change from RAID 1 to 0 or break the raid array up you will always have to reinstall the OS fresh. So full reformat chiefs.

As for the Recovery partitions. As long as you don't delete the partitions they will be fine and still be there however once the partitions are KOed they will be too.

No need to worry to much about the recovery alien respawn partitions. Just reinstall the OS fresh and use http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...70-september-2010-incl-vbios-flash-guide.html to get you back up to speed oles.

    Cheers. :)

It's not always Seagate. It could be Toshiba/WD/Seagate even it says Seagate. There's hardly any difference anyway.
