Whenever I go to AMD's website I put in my video card AMD Radeon HD 6970m and start to install. Before it installs it checks to see if its the right card and it says its not. I then tried to go to Dell's website and download the drivers from there but if I download the 6970 one or the 6990 one both of them say that an error occurred in the installation. When I go to my device manager and I go to Display Adapters I get 2, AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series and Intel(R) HD Graphics Family. I'm debating whether or not to disable the Intel one and uninstalling my current drivers but I don't want to mess anything up. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    .

From my experience I leave the intel HD graphics on, and have the laptop set to use that, then remove all Radeon drivers and fresh install of new drivers after.

This has worked for me in the past, however to have the "bases covered" always create a backup disc before any hardware changes just incase.

Thanks, but as I'm looking more into it it seems that the Intel drivers are acting as my main video card, whenever I do FN and F7 to switch the drivers nothing happens. You think I should still just remove the radeon drivers and then do a fresh install? (should I use Dell's drivers to AMD's?). Also if I was to also uninstall the Intel drivers what is the order to install, is it Radeon first and then Intel or the other way around?

I always found deleting all of the AMD drivers and leaving the Intel alone worked.

Download Drive Sweeper and CC cleaner. Run the AMD driver install .exe and run the unistall option. Restart into safe mode and run drive sweeper and select AMD. Clean all, restart. Next launch CC cleaner and run a registry repair. repair all.

Install Dells AMD drivers then install 12.11 over the top.

    Always worked for me.

    Drive Sweeper:
    Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

    CC cleaner:

    CCleaner - Download

    I'd agree with this.
As I said uninstall AMDs driver, then go through and use Joes instructions from there.
Personally I would use AMDs Catalyst control centre after all this to auto detect and install their software (as I prefer using CCC) but the preference is yours.

I tried what Joe said and after I did the Disk Sweeper in safe mode I rebooted my computer and got blue screens. So to fix it I went back into safe mode and ran CCleaner to fix the registry and then I went to my device manager and uninstalled my video driver that was in there. I don't know what went wrong but it wasn't good.

So where are you now? Are the drivers uninstalled? Are you on the Intel HD Graphics? Do you still get installation errors? What was the BSOD code?

To tell you the truth my drivers are messed up. When I go to the device manager and then display adapters I see AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series and Intel(R) HD Graphics Family.

When I got my computer working, after the Blue Screen I tried to download my AMD driver from the dell website and half way through the installation I blue screened again. I didn't catch any of the BSOD codes but when I logged back in I got a windows checking for solution thing and when it was done it said the BSOD was cause from the harddrive or something like that. Is there a log I can check for the codes that I got when it blue screened?

    Yeh, go to C:/Windows/ Minidump.

You may need to make hidden files and folders visable in Folder options to see it though. Then down load a tool that can decipher the minidump files or upload them here and one of the guys will give it a browse over, for sure.
