    Hello all,

I got my M17X R4 about a month ago and I must say it is amazing.
I will be using my laptop mainly for gaming (Battlefield 3) and secondly for learning virtual environments.
Being new to overclocking, I have some questions and concerns that require your professional input.

I am using BIOS A05 and have a Cryo LX (stock) cooling pad.

    Processor: Intel i7-3610QM
I need to OC to a STABLE clock speed. I need stability more than performance so any boost in performance is good.

    GPU: AMD 7970M (driver A01 8.973)
    Idle temps: 58C
    Loaded temp: 63C
Again, stability over performance but I would want to really juice out this graphics card to the highest stable performance possible.

    RAM: (4x) 204-PIN DDR3 PC3-12800 1600 Corsair Vengeance
I don’t really care about OCing my RAM but is there a way to make 4 individual DIMMs work as a quad-channel? I purchased 4 pieces of single-channel ram.

Also, I’m fairly new to this so any step by step instructions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

CPU: I don't think you will be able to overclock the processor much more than having it run at the maximum turbo boost on each core. The 3610 is not an extreme edition processor so your overclocking options unfortunately are limited.

GPU: Gpu should be fairly easy to overclock. I would look at the this guide for more info. :)

[GUIDE] Installing and Overclocking the AMD Mobility 7970 in the M17x R3,an illustrated guide

RAM: Not sure, but I Think you can get your RAM to run at a higher speed (1866). Just not sure exactly the process for doing so.

    Hope this was useful :)

Thanks! Do you have any step-by-step tutorial on how to OC it to run at maximum turbo boost?

Thanks for this! I will look into it!

OCing is not really my main priority. I would really love my 4x single-channels to run as a quad channel. I researched online for the difference between single channel and multi channel and could not really find a very informative answer. All people are saying that multi-channel ram are manufactured together and clock speeds work exactly the same and that selling them as multi-channel is a "gimmick"

3720+ cpu's have some unlocked options. 3610QM not.
your vengeance ram can be flashed with other xmp profile to 1866 with tyhpoon burner or even higher but you wont notice the difference.
No quad channel supported, chipset is dual channel only.

    Thanks!

So I checked my RAM and they are running on dual channel. I was worried because I purchased 4 single-channel dimms.

For the GPU, I pretty much understand how to OC now using the MSI AB. Just need to play around with the clock and core speeds.

My concern is, for the CPU, is there no way to OC the 3610QM just a little bit? The BIOS allows it to be overclocked but I don't know a stable clock speed.
