So i guess i got hit hard core from the java security issue and i couldn't fix the issue with malware removal after 3 days so i nuked the drive and reinstalled windows and so far malware free. I for some reason had a little issue installing the alienware drivers and got them to install according to driver disk but now i don't have the ability to sleep, change brightness and maybe a few other things. those are the only two i have noticed so far. volume and disk thing works just fine. I don't have settings for screen brightness or sleep in anypart of windows or button functions. Does anyone have any ideas? my eyes are killing me at night time from the brightness -_-

You need to download Command Center and OSD.

Sleep problems are usually an issue with the GPU driver. :(

Tsk, tsk, tsk. I've said it once, I've said it before. With a clean install, install the Dell video drivers first, then update to the latest ones from AMD.

You gotta remove the current Catalyst package. The reboot, go into device manager and uninstall the AMD display adapter. When uninstalling it, check the box that tells the uninstall wizard to delete the driver files after uninstall. Then reboot and repeat the process until the display adapter shows up as "Generic VGA Adapter". Now you've gotten rid of all the old lingering driver files for it and now you can install the Dell stock video drivers.

I haven't needed to do clean ATI driver installs every since 12.x Catalyst.

It gets messy because of the intergrated GPU.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S2 running Resurrection Remix

I just had to clean install everything yesterday. The good thing is I know if I do it the right way the first time, then I can just let Catalyst update itself without any problems from now on.

question...out of laziness...after this week i think i won't need my R4...well I could get by with my netbook. Is it possible I could just sent it in under warranty to have it returned to factory default? I am busy and lazi and don't wnat to have to waste anymore time than i already have. -_-

That's normally not covered under the Standard Hardware Warranty. It covers hardware issues only. There is also a software department but it's mostly fee based.
