    Just to add to this, if you want 32 gig working in full dual channel, you'll need at least a core i7 2720 or better...if you have the 2630 or 2670, only 16 gigs will run in dual channel, the additional 16 gigs should still work, but run in single channel

    I just found these for all of you that are thinking about upgrading to or adding to your DDR3 1600's...

    how come i didnt notice this thread for so long =.= !

    you can alway change the timing on ur hyperX to your liking :p

    i managed to pump it to 20k read memory before but it's not very stable, not good for the hardware for such small gain.
    For now i stay with 1600@CL7-9-8-18 which is stable and passed all the memtest application with no errors.

    [IMG]

    i think lower timing can affect your SSD transfer rates .. my SSD 4k scores boost up like crazy with both CPU-OC and RAM's Lower-timing

    @teksavvy1 :
    how did you get such crazy latency 25ns o___o,
    nvm it's CR2 :))

    p.s : I tested it again with Maxxmem2, the Memory-Read seems higher here :) 20389MB/sec with a nice score 20,23GB/sec,
    with SSD optimize powerplan from a thread i read in NBR i got very nice latency !
    AS SSD benchmark give much higher 4k Write,

    [IMG]

    compare to before with timing of 8/9/8/24 CPU OC 76% (Mint condition SSD vs ~2.5 month SSD)

    Strange got my second set of CL7 1600Mhz today. Put it in and XMP 2 won't stick and I lost my overclock. Seems like either I got some bad samples or OC/XMP + 4 Dimms = fail. Dunno may do a reset later and start from scratch. I'll also have to test the other pair on their own because I know my first pair are good.

    check your ram again, is it the same model ?

    my friend have 1600 hyperX and it does support XMP but mine don't have those because it's Plug and play type.

    Everytime i set it to XMP, all my bios setting reset to factory default after F10 save&exit !

    did you try do everything with Custom timing!

    Both pairs are the same model. Maybe I got a back pair which are actually 1333Mhz but with a wrong sticker.

    Okay, I tried your custom timing of 8-9-8-18 and it works fine but if I change CL to 7 I get beep beep beep beep xD and settings get reverted to default.

    Right so after hours of testing, still no good. Whatever I set, the memory frequency will not jump to 800Mhz when using CR2 (4 dimms) maybe XMP just doesn't work on 4 dimms. *sigh* bummer as I have 4 1866Mhz XMP chips inbound as well.

    Gonna just hold them for a small while longer. Just to be sure. I mean it could be by bios being silly.

    Now I need suggestions. Tried older bioses, a clean bios, other methods etc. I mean I'm happy with 4GB if I could play BF3 with it. Apparently I run out of memory every time I launch a server because I've turned my page file off. I did that to save bloody SSD space. I can do 4X2GB 1333Mhz @CL7 but I can't get the memory speed to rise to 1600Mhz. XMP 2 just doesn't stick. I've check my ram sticks and they are all fine and legit. Here's me hoping that the 1866Mhz CL9 ones work...probably won't as I will need 4 slots for those too. *sigh*

    Why don't you do what devillucifer did and just get your 1600mhz HyperX at almost CL7? I can manage CL8 at max but he manages CL7 :S

    And you need more RAM if your page file is disabled I think, since originally it was used for low RAM dilemmas. Pointless now when everyone is on 8GB +

    Right I must be doing something wrong because when I set the custom timings, my RAM downclocks to 1333Mhz. :confused:

    I am using the PnP HyperX and it seems to work, though other people in that thread are getting the same problem

    Ah right I see. The fact is your ram has 1600Mhz as its default speed. It is coded in the SPD. My ram is XMP therefore the default is 1333Mhz. Therefore, it won't work :(

    Every time I try to set the timings it always reverts to default. Is there something I'm missing?

    Edit: Also following the directions that devillucifer posted on how to change the timing caused my bios not to boot a couple times and windows to give me some weird error about checksum being corrupt or something like that. I put in the numbers just as he posted...im not too sure what happened.

    try my current settings GeoCake ! (see pic in the attachment)
    i changed it a little bit for stability since last time in T|I
    tRC = tRAS + tRP = 18 + 8 = 26

    also take a look at this page, i find it pretty useful...

    @widezu69 :
    is that your ram in the attachment ? KHX1600C9S3K2
    this one does support XMP profile and the default speed is 1333 compare to the pnp default of 1600.

    p.s : i only use 2 stick (CR1), and i don't overclock BCLK much ~100mhz

    After completing only half of the first day of p90x schedule, Lombardi says he woke up sore and ill. He states that anyone who has done the workout knows what it feels like after the first day. The routine included push-ups after pull-ups in a very demanding way.
    Inside the Deluxe insanity workout schedule It comes with 3 extra DVD workouts. The first of the workouts is called Max Interval Sports Training, next is called Insane Abs and last is the Upper Body Weighted Workout.

    CL7 just doesn't let my laptop boot at all. At CL8 and the other new settings in your picture I get the exact same thing but black screen & eventually thrown into BIOS. The best I can do is your original settings for 8-9-8-18@1600 otherwise I get either beeps or black screens.. your memory must be mutated or something :p
