I have an m17X R2 (which i love)with i5-520m with 4gb of ram and 5870m crossfire. I bought a corsair 16gb 1600mhz(2 X 8) and it would not boot therefore as a result I recently purchased another set of corsair 16gb but it was 1333(2 X 8) hoping for welcoming results but it too did not boot. The fact is that both pairs of memory reached the windows welcome screen and then shuts off. I checked numerous forums and googled for for help. Also I view important to note I am an Autodesk Revit user which requires a lot of RAM.

These are the solutions I received and tried without success thus far:
1.i put one old memory stick with a new one
2.i booted with none and then installed the new pair
3.Can't fresh install because it would not reach the stage to boot

    Can it be the i5-520?

Does it boot up fine with your original RAM? Have you run MemTest to see if the new RAM may be faulty?

I doubt it's with the i5 as even the 920xm can only take 8gb but because of windows we are able to have 16gb

I have regular A10 bios and it works fine. I would try some different memory.

I did some digging and saw another user (west wot) same memory same problems but noticed he stated that it bsod with his i7-620m.which i can only conclude that 16gb of ram won't work with dual core processors imho.I even noticed that most of the 16gb users has quad core processors.what do you guys think?

It has nothing to do with the chipset. It is the embedded memory controller.
Sorry guys but the truth is,that i5-520m only supports 8GB memory - 800/1066MHz. This is a fact.

For more information, please visit the processors specs. sheet!

i just realised that aren't none I7 quad core processors limited by the fact they can't use 1333 mhz ram?

i know using such ram will probably just downclock but the OP hasn't actually tried 1066/800 ram as of yet
