For a while I had Solid green light and flashing yellow Network lights (on a 100mbit switch). For the last few weeks it has been Solid Orange light with flashing yellow. I switched cables, same result, switched to a diffrent switch (one with a gigabit connection) and had Solid yellow with Flashing yellow.

It concerns me since I used to have the solid green. Not entirely sure what my next step is if there is infact anything wrong.

Sorry I was running back and forth between customers trying to type that out.

Yes the issue is on my Alienware M17x Laptop.

Please put down your specs and how you have the system setup. Is it wired, or wireless? Im assuming wired. Have you tried installing the Ethernet drivers? Make are its enabled in the system bios, and that reinstall the Ethernet drivers.

    Model M17x10, i7 Q740, 4gb ram, ATI 5870, 64bit W7 Home premium SP1 (fully updated with exception that I have not installed IE9)

This is the issue again with hopefully more clairity.

I DO have internet/network connection through the wired RJ45 ethernet port.

Yes it is enabled in the Bios, and I do check periodicly for updates.

The problem is the colors on the lights.

Prior to about 2-3 weeks ago I had a Solid Green Light with a Flashing Yellow Activity Light.

About 2-3 weeks ago the Solid Green Light went Orange and has been ever since.

There was no change to the network or switch, and still no change as of the posting of this.

I tried switching out the cable and tried a diffrent port on the switch No change. Still Orange.

I tried a Diffrent Switch. Instead of a Solid Orange I had a Solid Yellow Light. With internet and network access still.

I think it means nothing...if the network is working fine and has proper speeds you should forget about it.

Okay, can you tell me what the Lights are Supposed to mean? None of the manuals that were sent with the laptop tell me what the colors mean or any of the ones that I can find on Dell/alienware's website.

I have a solid orange light with a yellow activity light. I wouldn't worry about it as long as the port is still working. May have been a driver update that caused it or something. Who knows.
