So how bad is the default network card? everyone seems to hate it on but would it work for me in my case? MY m17x laptop is going to be used on the same desk where my router is set up to my main desktop computer, therefore would i receive any noticeable latency change if i were using a better card as opposed to the default? Secondly my router is a wireless G router, and the upgraded cards have N in their name. Would i need a wireless N router for those cards to even work or would they work with my current router? Again, would i notice significant latency changes?

Don't think there is anything really wrong with it I only upgraded for WiMAX support.

Agreed, I used the broadcom adapter (1520) for over a year and never had an issue. Played games, surfed the web, etc. I recently upgraded to the 6300 because it has 3 antennas vs 2 and allowed for 450mb/s transfer assuming you have a router that supports it.

For me, I was upgrading my processor/graphics cards anyway, so had it open anyway and figured I might as well upgrade (and my extra antenna was feeling lonely and needed to be used) :)

As far as needing an N router...you don't need to upgrade just to use an N card as the default will communicate at G and even B speeds with no problem what-so-ever. You won't get N speeds unless you upgrade to an N router obviously, but as far as it working with your current setup, it shouldn't be a problem.
