When I stream recorded TV from another PC on my network my M17x-r2 will drop it's Ethernet connection after a while. Curiously, it doesn't drop my wireless connection to the same router.

Disabling and re-enabling the the Intel 82577 network adapter will restore Ethernet connectivity, but streaming video will make it drop again.

I've tried reinstalling and updating drivers, to no avail.

Has anyone else had this problem and/or found a solution?

Usually a hard connection is very reliable. Are you sure it's the laptop? Could it be the router?

Yup, I have another computer (an M11x) on the same network and it plays streamed recorded TV from the same source machine, across the same router, just fine.

I changed out my wireless card to an Atheros and it works better, picked it up off of ebay for about 20 bones

My wireless works fine. It's the ethernet that drops. Do you mean that changing your wireless card to the Atheros fixed the problem with your wired connection?
