I figured, I havn't had a driver issue yet with the games I play, and I have yet to load any profiles  which I should do and I'm sure I would see an improvement, but I've been lazy. I ran my top 3DMark06 Bench on stock dell drivers, although my Vantage was done with 10.6 so I'm sure theres room for improvement. Maybe tommorrow. :p

Haha - give us half a minute to d/l 'em first! ;) - Im still on 10.10e modded without any sleep probs (still got close lid do nothing - other than that, no problems on current drivers). Im betting that its not been fixed.....and I was "hopeful" that it would be as I would like to put to sleep via closing the lid.

Alex - do you still get the brightness keys going all funky on you? - any crashes?

As soon as I have installed 11.1, I will test it out....AGAIN

Hey, tell me....does the 11.1 package come with HDMI driver or am i gonna have to custom uninstall to keep the one I have now? (had to insert the last one) ... dont really wanna lose that driver if I express uninstall if you know what I mean?

LOL, this is funny, I am now on my third computer and everytime I try the links here or go to the AMD site I still pull up 10.11. Well, enjoy 11.1, hopefully its an improvement.

I've been using the 11.1a hotfix drivers since they were released. I just shut the lid on mine and let it go to sleep and it recovered just fine. I did however have a BSOD yesterday (never had one before) but I still haven't determined if it's because of the drivers or something else.

it will come back from sleep when you open the lid, BUT u loose the ability to control your LCD brightness and u will get BSOD randomly, not always. make sure u let your laptop sleep for a good 2-5min before waking it. same goes to 11.1a hotfix and the new 11.1 official driver. try it again and let us know if your results are the same as mine.

    - Yes, brightness keys stopped working after waking from sleep (lid sleeping)
    - no HDMI driver as usual. just use the mod i've mentioned to u before. it will still work.

Sure as eggs are eggs, if you sleep via closing the lid, you will lose the ability to dim down the brightness using fn keys...maybe not right away but after a few goes...it will happen. Also, I found that after leaving the laptop in a normal state, (after sleep via lid/resume) I would suffer from very random complete shutdowns...com back to find a restart with sleep in progress false...test it out...i did for a fair few days...and this was on a clean install with only 10.11/10.12 installed at video driver stage.

Will do. Will copy from the one I have and then re-insert it into 11.1......what is it with these drivers? - why do NONE of them come with HDMI driver without having to muck about with them!

Yup brightness failed to respond. Nice catch, I never noticed that. Everything else is working okay so far. Could be thats why my system BSOD'd the other day after waking up.

Both myself and Alex have been suffering from this for quite some time....god knows how many others have simply missed it....i started a thread on the subject but didnt get much response : http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...-issues-when-using-reference-amd-drivers.html

I think both myself and Alex can safely say that we dont get any bsod's or lose brightness functionality AS LONG as we dont put our systems to sleep via closing the lid to do so. I can sleep via pressing the Alienhead on off just fine.....always resumes with brightness functionality and havent bsod'd yet by doing sleep that way.

Im no computer whizz, but its what I found from various testing. Maybe someone with your experience can elaborate on the cause!

i agree. we NEED more people to first KNOW about this issue so we can be more effective when this problem is raised to ati. NON of their official drivers have worked perfectly since 10.11 and nobody other than Stevie and myself really give a dxmn about it. i hope now more will join in the discussion of sleep issue and BSOD with current and future ati official drivers.

Yea we shouldn't go to sleep ;)

but when I press Alienhead to send my rig to slleep, then resume, the brightness does respond, but the OSD brightness level bars are not shown.. (I use stock Dell\AW drivers and VBIOS)

I cant account for that. I have always experienced the OSD for brightness control (same as for changing battery mode). Not sure why you are getting lack of the on screen icon.

yes, all other sleep method, as tested by Stevie, work just fine. the problem only starts when u try to sleep by closing your lid. upon waking up, u will loose brightness control functionality, your brightness will be set to max and u will get random BSOD and before the system cave in and restart on its own. this again, only happens with ati official drivers. not with outdated dell official drivers.

Anybody in this forum thread from the US who has had the mobility link work? Just wondering cuz I have now cleaned out my cache, via internet options in the control panel and with ccleaner and the link is still showing me the 10.11 drivers......on 3 different computers. Its sort of funny in a way, then again ><

I hope you guys will test for the sleep/clsoing lid issues after you have installed the latest 11.1 drivers. The problem needs to be redressed so that our systems can function with the functionality that they were intended to. Personally, I like being able to just close my lid and put my system to sleep...its a bind not being able to do so.

I installed these 2 days ago (the 11.1a hotfix version) that I got off of Rage3D.
I am not sure if it was a beta version or just not WHQL.
They seem to be doing fine for now (have not tried closing the lid as I usually just shut hit the alien head) but the few games I have tried seem fine.

Try putting your system to sleep by closing the lid. Can you tell us if you lose the ability to use Fn & F5 to dim your display?...it may take one or two goes but would be really handy to know if you get the same issues.

    Thanks.

I have just submitted a survey to AMD about the sleep issues that several of us have been experiencing using Reference AMD drivers. I know this is ever so slightly off topic but it IS directly related to ALL AMD drivers - obviously INCLUDING 11.1 latest release.

If anyone would like to submit to AMD if they experience the same issues as myself, Alex and, of late, Joker, please feel free to fill in the survey from the link below. Maybe it can get fixed...who knows.

Works great in bc Vietnam. With my 920xm oc'd I get 70-100 fps constantly with everything in high and 2xAA with high quality settings in CCC. I highly recommend a 920xm for all R2 owners. Get it from PC-Best-Buy on eBay and tell him Brian referred you. He may give you a price lower than his auction listing of $399.

Ok, so I put my laptop lid down and allowed it to go into sleep mode (about 5 minutes), opened it back up, came online without any problems and I've had no issues with dimming the display using the FN+F5 key. Running the new ATI 11.1 drivers, unfortunately I never attempted this previously so not certain if it existed before on my system or not.

*Edit* Will give it a few more tries and report any changes

One thing for me...is that sleep mode actually seems to be working correctly now. Previously there were times when it wouldn't wake from sleep and I'd have to shut the lid and then open it again to "wake" it up. Now that seems to have been resolved. I've attempted it 5 times over the past hour and haven't had any problems (with it waking...or the dimming display issues reported previously). I will state that I'm running everything stock, no overclocking what-so-ever.

*Edit* Well I spoke too soon, just attempted it again (6th time is a charm) and upon waking I was UNABLE to adjust the brightness using the FN+F5 key. I'm happy that my sleep is working, and I always keep it at full brightness, so that isn't an issue to me, although I'm a bit disturbed by the reports of random lockups and blue screens after sleeping.

    I just installed the 11.1.

On CCC it still show up as 10.12, as well as in GPU-z. The CCC has changed to the new layout for me (it wasn't changed with my previous installation of 10.12).

It's wierd, i did the installation as usual (removed the 10.12 from Control Panel, rebooted in safe mode, removed any ati residual with drivers sweeper, rebooted into VGA mode, CCleaner, installed 11.1, reboot)

I just installed 11.1 ATi drivers.

Mine too saids 10.2 on GPU-z. No biggy I guess.

I was wondering though how to re-enable Crossfire as I can't find it in the CCC now as an option?

    Cheers. :)

open CC - click "gaming" - click "AMD CrossFireX Configuration" and it should be there.

Since they did a BFBC2 Vietnam update I am hoping they fixed all the previous BF issues - will check and post back :D

Thanks for testing out....I kinda knew that you would get problems...eventually. I found that once your keys had gone funky, the system may appear to be normal but if left....thats when you will start to get random bsod's (as joker reported one a few pages back....). Myself and AlexNvidia know this only too well.
