I have just check the website today. Instead of offerring 5%-10%-15% off on selected system as of yesterday they offer:

    - $310 off.
    - i7 720QM is the lowest option for CPU
    - 6GB RAM is the lowest option for Memory
    - Intel Wireless Card

That is the standard config now and w/ $310 off on top of that it translates to $1899 for that config. Pretty good.

I sucessfully got 20.24% off on my system yesterday but I will start hangling again w/ this new offer :)

Of course. We subsidise everyone else's discounts by having none applicable in Australia/Asia.

I'm envious but I wish you luck with further haggling SillyHoney!

Spot on Killandros.. the only thing we can hope for is the FTA (free trade agreement) between USA and Aus to take off.. that'll drop prices and make things MUCH cheaper from the us. And here.

I have no idea how this is $310 off. I did the exact same configuration I did 3 weeks ago and it comes to exactly the same price.

Edit: Oh except for the 6 Gigs of ram and the Intel wireless network card upgrades I guess.

What's weird is Dell's website is intermittantly coming up completely redesigned. It did it a week ago, then the next day...back to normal. Then, just about an hour ago, it was the redesigned, spiffy site, and now, back to normal again!

Anyone else seeing the new design site??

    Example of new site.

Example of same page on normal site.

Alright my bad. the RAM upgrade from 4Gigs to 6 Gigs is normally $200 (ridiculous). and the upgrade for the wireless network card is $60.

And it came to $50 cheaper than the setup I did.

When you go to actually customize the rig, the 285M isn't an option lol.

285M would be great if it were true, unfortunately it's not.

I'm wondering WHY. There is no 740QM nor 285M GTX in the US.

This morning when I post this thread the introducing page still says 5% - 10% - 15% off etc... like few days ago. But when I go to config page it only shows up $310 discount

Now Dell updated the introducing page to "$310 discount instantly" but with the wrong specs

Do you think Dell US gonna put x40 CPU on? And 285M GTX too maybe lol

    EDIT:

That's what Dell rep told me when I asked for that confusion:

"Thanks for waiting, We’re a build to order company and one reason why we do not offer certain options online is probably because of availability. There’s a good chance that we do not have it in stock so our Marketing Dept decided not to offer it in the mean time to prevent lead time or delays."

Interesting. I wonder if i could haggle them lower on the intel 6300 MIMO. I'm kinda regretting not getting it. But they quoted me $80 whereas I can get it for $40 @ CDW. I'd rather get it through alienware though so I don't have to remove it and put in the old card if I ever need warranty work.
