    Hi Everyone

I picked up a used Alienware M17X at Auction and have a few questions.
I used Dell's website to scan the computer it say's it's a M17X the model number under the battery is P01E
I see there are R1, R2, R3, R4. I am trying to figure out the correct model before buying parts. I am assuming
    it's just a plain M17X.

It did not come with a charger so I used a charger from another Dell and it worked for the most part. after reseating the Ram I got the system to boot. The battery won't charge, it's listed as unknown. Assuming this is because the charger is not the original? Otherwise the system works fine.

The display screen " glass " has a lot of scratches the lcd is fine. Will my model need a new lcd/glass? I watched a video were the bezel was " slid off " and he installed a new one without changing the lcd.
    any advice would be appreciated.

What are the specifications of the laptop? That usually helps for us to find out the model number, although P01E seems to indicate the original M17X R1 with the C2Q/C2D
The battery is likely long gone, and thats why its not charging

Thank you!. Looking for a battery and can't find any. Looks like I will have to rebuild the one I have. Should be fun getting the case open.

Please inform us on the process, I too have a M17x R1 with a dead battery, none have been available to purchase since 2014.

My dremel broke so I sacrificed a soldering iron tip, got the battery open. The cells are LGDBB18650 9 of them, can't find any or even a datasheet
    anyone know a equivalent battery?

18650 is pretty common actually. I use those on my vaporizer, no idea how diverse it gets in that form factor though...

18650 form factor yes, but we need cells that match current and voltage ratings exactly. I could not find anything for what OP has posted, closest name I could find is LGDBB31865, not sure if the ratings are the same as what is needed in M17x R1/R2 cells

LGDBB31865 is rated at 3.70V x 3 cells would make 11.1V if wired in series, which matches rated spec of the original battery pack voltage rating, but the mAh/Whr is lower. What could possibly be done is to rip a m17x R3/M17x r4 original battery pack and steal the batteries from those, since the voltage is also rated at 11.1V, but 90Whr

    Wrong. I own M17X R1, I do not own M17 or Area-51 M17x. M17x R1 and R2 use the same batteries.
