Hi
This new driver seems to be the Dell version of the new nVidia driver out in the last couple of weeks.
It lists the following:
"Fixes and Enhancements
Fixes:
1. Includes all fixes from NV retail 285.62
2. Battlefield 3 support
Known Issues:
1. HD audio driver states fail after install on Intel Dual Core platform. False failure.
Additional Information
This Beta Driver has been through limited compatibility and stability testing by Dell on Dell platforms.
There may be more stable drivers, including the drivers originally shipped with your computer, available under the video section"
My question is will it cause a big improvement or will it cause problems.? Should I just stay with the driver that came with my new system a month ago? I am playing Battlefield 3 on those drivers and it works just fine (apart from the freezes and many problems reported in various forums)
I'm really enjoying my new system and my past experience of "updating" things hasn't always been positive.
Thanks as always for your help.
Gerry

Just get the nvidia ones from the website:

Tis what I am using. Nothing wrong with HD audio or Battlefield 3. -
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!

If I use the drivers from the nVidia site will that affect the warranty as opposed to using the Dell drivers?

Thanks for your reply and I'll get the nVidia drivers.

The NV release of 285.62 still produces an intermittent resume to black screen (from S3) issue with the 120Hz display - at least for me it does. The workaround has been to set refresh rate to 60Hz - resuming from sleep is fine @ that refresh rate. 120Hz and it dies.
I haven't tried this Dell release yet. Driver may have dropped to correct this issue. Checking now... -
Oh right, I never put my comp to sleep so I wouldn't know.
-
Nope - still not resolved. For now, anyone running into the issue I mentioned, use 60Hz and you'll be able to resume from S3 without a problem.

Hi, Having problem with updating graphics driver on m17x (2 years old)
tried the Nvidia 285.62 (Nvidia installer cannot continue, this graphics driver could not find campatible graphics hardware)
Nvidia 9400, and GTX260M are the 2 onboard cards in this m17x,
talked with Alienware tech for help with installing drivers, no help with
anything other than DELL drivers. (I get a window on battlefield 3 saying I need to update driver, I can get in game, but it's not great)
any help would be great.
thanks. -

Skull, see my 2nd reply in this thread:

If it doesn't work on your 260M, see Belien's reply on the 2nd page(depending on your post per page arrangement) to modify the 'Section' numbers (nVidia changed them :/)

Skull, I'm glad it worked for you.
To enable SLi you have to:
-right click the Desktop and choose NVIDIA Control Panel
-Under 3D Settings, click on Set SLi and PhysX configuration
-To enable SLi choose Maximize 3D performance
-For PhysX, that's basically your choice.
Cheers
