Im looking at purchasing a M17x, but I have a few questions that you all may be able to answer.

    1. I play MMOs (Lotro, WoW) and some SC2. Will i need crossfire 5870 or can i get away with single?

    2. Which processor would be good for these games? Do i need to go Quad?

    Thanx in advance!

I would go quad, but if you can swing it, I would get a low end CPU, and then a 920XM/940XM ES (Engineering Sample) off ebay. They have decent prices ($400ish) and you can increase the turbo multiplier on them as well as the turbo power (TDP/TDP) using throttle stop. But from what I know those cames are CPU intesive so quad would be the way to go. As far as GPU, not really sure. Also, check out the link in my sig. May come in useful. ;)

Ya I was thinking single. Thanks for the input!

Is there an easy guide to upgrading the CPU on the M17x? I found one on youtube, but its kinda vague.

I didn't think it was last I looked last night. Crossfire was a free upgrade!

EDIT: OH weak. The Employee Discount site doesn't have the free crossfire this morning, so a single is an option. Not sure about the regular site. Last night it was only free crossfire. I hate Dell LOL.
