Hey guys I just bought a new monitor and I'm having a slight issue. It seems with my ATI Cards, (in this case the M17x's 5870's) and HDMI Its not sending out a proper signal. Its showing the full 1920x1080 image but its surrounded by a black bar on all sides. When I hook it up to VGA its fine looks perfect.

i've tried a few variations on connections. But this seems to be giving me trouble still.

I've also tried different (available drivers) and still no luck.

Lastly I have an M15x with an Nvidia GTX 260, that works fine with HDMI. So.. i'm at a loss for what to do.

So in case anyone was wondering about a solution to this. I got very luck and found a nice little tutorial on how to fix the problem.

Basically its ATI's overscan settings. Sometimes it doesn't work out so great depending on your monitor. So if your able to see the monitor in the catalyst control settings you can configure the monitor seperately which will allow you to set up overscan settings and make your system work.

    its pretty simple.

    Open CCC,

    Go to Desktop & Displays

Right click on the External monitor under (Please select a display)

    Click on Configure.

Make sure (Enable GPU Scaling) Is checked off

click on the overscan tab, Adjust accordingly.

    There you have it.
