Working fine for me - except the freezing in windows (firefox) is still there - disable HW acceleration in FF and it goes away. Still tons of reports of in-game problems but mine seems OK ;)

Just finished some tests with my M17x R4 680M 3D screen.

    I tested driver versions 314.22, 320.49 and 326.01 on Win8 x64.
I can confirm (but I guess we all already know) that only version 314.22 works without any problem.
The other two drivers immediately boot up with a black screen.

NV/Alienware, where is our vbios update?

Did you test the 3D too? Or just to see if it is booting till logon screen without blank screen?

    Did some additional testing:

314.22: Works fine directly after installation, after a couple of reboots and power cycles continues to work without any problems.

320.49: Works fine directly after installation (including 3D), after reboot blank screen. After some additional reboots/power cycles it gave me 40% (4 out of 10) a normal Windows 8 screen.

326.01: Fails directly after installation. After a power cycle no driver was installed.

I didn't update the vBIOS and seem to work just fine

Strange and at the same time very interesting to see that some people don't seem to be affected by the blank screen bug.
If I have the time tonight I will try a clean install of Win8 x64 and immediately install driver version 320.49.

just one problem, not able to enable 3d, i get an error 'direct3d failed to initialize'
and i get flickering, like real bad flickering, and it just wont let me enable 3d, just starts the process all over again!

does anyone have this issue too?

Do you have afterburner or precision x loaded at startup? Just a guess until someone that know helps ;)

Edit: I see you are running FRAPS, was it, could it have been, running when you updated the driver?

well. i use afterburner and fraps at startup
do you suspect they might be causing problems?

and those dreaded latency issues are back! gameplay is severely hampered!
was just playing fc3, gpu usage didnt go above 48%! i dont know what is happening...

It's just that I vaguely remember a similar (or same) error message and found I needed to unload all graphic monitoring utilities. For me just re-running the install after unloading them worked. Safest way would be to disable the startup option and restart before installing the driver.

If it still is playing up then I suggest you try going back to 314.22 and wait out a decent driver (and maybe the vbios mod) ;)

    HTH.

That's one I've not seen, hopefully it's part of the issue needing the vbios update

I'd be inclined to try the last good one, 314.22 just to rule out any specific issue on your setup ;)

well last known working 3d was 314.14

even 314.22 broke 3d with similar issues

ever since i tried those 320.xx drivers, things have been going downhill!

i hope it did not damage my 3d display or the card! O.O :O

This really doesn't make sense anymore...
Didn't had the time yesterday to do a clean install. So once again on my existing installation. I upgraded the driver from 314.22 to 320.49 (before I uninstalled 314.22 first). After two reboots and one shutdown still working without any problem.

Yeah, I'm seeing a lot of strange problems that do not appear to be related. I am following a few threads and the only thing I can think of is that after the 3xx release where voltages on older GPU's started to overvolt it's been a problem in the wings and the later releases pushing them a little harder was just too much. Any overclocker will tell you that when you overvolt the results will not be consistent. Which part gives up? Dice roll and a lot of weird reports - despite all the protestations that a driver cannot hurt hardware.

These drivers are working well on my laptop. The voltage behaviour seems to be identical to 314.22 for me. Performance is better than 314.22 in a number of games. I'm happy with these, but I don't discount the problems others are having.

That's good to hear. The overvolt is the same for all the 3xx series on my GPU, I see a spike to 0.92v when the card max is 0.87v. Never stays there long so I've never worried about it - but a lot of the damaged cards were with factory overclocked versions

    And here we go again...
All was working just fine until I just booted up now: blank screen. Turned laptop off and on, and all is working fine again.

Faith in humanity restored by NBR, lot of other forums I can bunch of kids whining all day long without thinking of a solution.
After reading the entire thread I realize that unless update my vBIOS nothing ain't gonna cut.

    680M/3D/120Hz
Anyone with the above configuration, what solution did you guys find? Also, is the vBIOS update out yet. Dell seems to be taking forever.

Still on the 314.22 with my 580. It seems the 320 drivers have a lot of problems and I don't want to fool with them right now. Must be the new cards and such. If I had one I would be more motivated to spend the time for some maybe slight gain in a benchmark LOL.

No gains anyway and I did a a few in-game benches. exact same results BUT they have been fixing things. No overvolt at all and that has been a problem waiting to kill machines since the 3xx release. So probably safe (but can't say since the previous one killed my 675 stone dead, over a few weeks, safe mode now :()

    Have fun!
