7% kick in Starcraft and 6% in COD:BO!

I wonder if these are the one's eluded too on the nvidia forums that will not require a .inf mod for us?

I tried to use the inf of 280.26 but installation failed at the end. It's a no go for me I guess... or i'll have to add the lines manually, maybe the .inf is different from previous versions?

Installed these without issue on the 580M. WEI score raised from 7.2 to 7.3 as an initial thing I noticed for the video related scores.

Just added the device caps (Dell 280M) back into the file and it installed fine, running it last night in Dead Island with SLI, no issues so far.

Installed on my 580m GTX without issue or the need for modded inf. Everything is working fine. New Physx runtimes included as well.

I did report the problem about not installing twice in the last beta thread and reported it again now. How hard can it be to add it to the inf....

D you have this hw id on your 460: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DD1&SUBSYS_04BA1028&REV_A1

That's weird... whys doesn't it work for me with your inf? When windows reboots, both 280m say "windows cant load the drivers for this device"

EDIT: Ok, since modifying the .inf worked for you, I extracted the one from 280.26 into the 285.27 and this time it worked, it says I have 280.26 installed but I guess it's normal. I think the .inf I used before (from L2VG) was the issue.

All I had to do was download the full driver from NVidia, and add the following three lines to the nvdm.inf file:

    Line 438 - %NVIDIA_DEV.060A.01% = Section009, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_060A&SUBSYS_02A11028
    Line 552 - %NVIDIA_DEV.060A.01% = Section010, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_060A&SUBSYS_02A11028
    Line 6798 - NVIDIA_DEV.060A.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M"

Works because the 285M uses the same sections (9 and 10) as the 280M and its device caps are still in the file.

Installation was a breeze, i used custom method for clean install. I rebooted despite no request upon installation. I think rebooting after install is best practise as far as windows is concerned.

    SORRY for double post...

Got it working with a modded inf on both windows 7 and 8. I bet the modded inf will work for all the alienware nvidia cards but im not sure. Go to Laptop2go and see if your card is supported with the modded inf and then you can either download just the inf mod, or the whole thing. :D let me know if you need help.
