HI all, over at HardwareHeaven we just posted our in depth review of the M17x R3. Thought you might want to check it out and I can respond to any questions here, either about the review or the system itself which we have for a couple of days extra.

Pages which might be of particular interest are the gaming tests (Warhead, L4D2 3D, Dead Space 2, HAWX 2, Mafia 2 3D) and the comparison with our results from the older R1 and R2 systems.

(Its 3am where I am so any answers may need to wait til tomorrow!)

(p.s. If i missed any threads specifically for reviews i apologise, can someone move this there.)

Hey, good spot. Just some wording in our generic test explanation section which isnt appropriate to this review (most of our articles use at least 1 mechanical drive). Will get it removed :)

review is very impressive. Now I know all about the system which is to arrive in 2 weeks :D or maybe longer (who knows those intel chipsets are not to be trusted
one thing though: you guys ever considered making a 1-webpage review? its annoying to click and switch all the time especially on this 10'' netbook i got here...
overall, again, a very impressive review

What's this mean? Are you saying that the 460M is weaky, and I should've ordered the 6870 instead? :(

I think what they're saying is they thought the GTX 460m was lacking power for what a new system like this should have, the 6870 is about dead par on performance so no that's not what they're saying. What's being said is that they should have released it with something more powerful..example: 470m, 485m, 6970, etc.

    Great review guys!
But IMO, they should review it with the 6970 when it comes out. :/

If they released it with something (higher) than the 460m, would the price be higher than the $75 "upgrade" that the 460m was over the 6870? Altogether, that upgrade didn't make any sense, cuz on notebookcheck's gpu list, 6870 is two or three spots above the 460m (I know I know, take it with a grain of salt...but still, ya know)?

@Veridian3 - Next time can you please compare the r3 to an I7 (8thread) such as the 920 or 940?
These reviews do not give a fair comparison between the lower models.

Some scores from even the m15x bench thread...(and these are probably much lower than M17xR2)

(@Dane - no offense man.. i know your R3 is on the way. I just get tired of people comparing apples to oranges)

That's Nvidia for you, always pricing their GPU's higher than AMD.

I think it is a typo. I think he meant:

"If the user opt's for a 3D Vision enabled 120Hz screen during the order process Optimus (and the integrated Intel GPU) are disabled. This is due to limitations of the display pipeline on the Sandy Bridge platform which do not meet the criteria NVIDIA require for 3D Vision."

I don't believe the Sandy Bridge platform can output LVDS at 120hz hence the need to go direct from the 460M to the display thus bypassing the HM67 chipset.
