    M 17X R3
    i7 2670
    4 Gigs Ram
    windows Home Premium
    Radeon 6870M

My laptop seems to really slow down at times, and I'm hoping it's just a RAM issue (Have another 8 gigs on the way). For example when merging RAW photo's for an HDR image I can barely move the mouse around, when booting up the same thing occurs. It's not really random, but even my old laptop (3 years old) wouldn't get this bad.

Latest Radeon drivers installed, plays games like a champ!

Any suggestions? Ideas? Fixes? Or should I just wait for the RAM to come in?

Any kind of rendering/compiling is going to be super heavy on RAM. M17xR3 should be able to accept 8 GB sticks of SODIMM memory if 8 GB is not enough.

What type of ram have u ordered? I strongly suggest that u get the Kingston HyperX 1600MHz once. Also while working with the pictures do u connect the power supply to ur system (battery charger)? When working off the battery the laptop down-clocks the CPU and the GPU. I also would recomend that u invest in a SSD. The combination of all of this should resolve ur problem :)

Generally, that is a RAM issue or windows pagefile (other other) issue. Might as well wait for the ram. But I have a strong suspicion that the problem will longer and will require a new install.

have you done any kind of system monitoring to see if it is indeed related to the ram???
