    I'm late for work but i sold my 17" mbp and 'just' ordered an m17x r2 yesterday... debating if i should have waited for the new r3 ..

    specs are :
    19x1200
    i7 740qm
    8gb ram
    Crossfire radeon 5870
    128 ssd


    pretty much all i can think of. Got a good deal figured the model was going out thats why but the new r3 is coming.... :(

    you made a good choice getting it now. The R3 will be over priced and will have some bugs that will not be fixed when it first comes out. And the hardware you chose "works"..well. haha good luck and welcome

    Nope...great deal and decision. You won't need R3 power for a couple of years anyway, plenty of time for Dell to hammer out the bugs.

    Just be sure to get the best warranty you can so if anything happens and the R2 is not longer available, Dell can step you up to a newer model.

    I'm about to put together my machine as well and sell my desktop. I like the portability and looks and don't really need the desktop's power.

    just noticed you only listed one HDD(SDD)?
    What villosa said, this is the best time get get a warranty, because sooner then later if something serious happens to you R2 they will send you a R3 with similar specs.

    Yeah I also got mine (new R2) with the 15% discount along with the video card discount. Ended up getting like $900 off so I could not-not purchase it. Now I gotta sell my black beauty, probably on EBay, otherwise the wife will shoot me :eek: I mean who needs two M17x's lol!
