I'm on the phone with AW right now trying to get my speakers replaced. I explained clearly to the guy that when i first start up the computer, i can't get the system to beep like it normally would. So what's he have me doing? Re-installing drivers >_<.

The error beep does not come from the speakers on the front of the system. There is a piezo speaker on the motherboard that handles post failures.

My favorite is when I've already done all their troubleshooting techniques prior to calling up. One time when i had my m1730, the guy asked me to flash my BIOS, so i was like "sure, no problem" (this was over the dell chat with dellconnect), flashed the BIOS, he said that since my computer restarted (um, duh?) that the BIOS flash didn't work correctly. His logic was undeniable....

I have even reinstalled windows a couple of different times since this began (not due to it, but just because i reinstall regularly) Nothing happened the first few times windows got reinstalled prior to this happening.

It also started randomly, they worked fine the day before, I hadn't installed anything new or even moved the computer, but they wouldnt work from that point on.

    headphones work fine.

oh dear. i had the exact same problem. 50 dollars says it's not the speakers. the phone tech thought it was the speakers, he sent replacement speakers, on site tech installed them but still no sound. it was the motherboard. had to send it in to the depot, took a few weeks (2) becasue they sent another bad MB that didnt even boot my AW when it was installed. but the new motherboard fixed my problem. i was able to get sound out of headphones but no speakers. also my hdmi didn't work.

I just moved my Black M17X into a Red case and have the same symptoms. Sound via headphones but none via speakers. I haven't had the chance to open it back up yet but just assumed that I missed a connection on the motherboard. Everything else works just fine....

well, it may just be the speakers, but it could still be the motherboard. everything else worked, the usb ports and all, i guess my hdmi went out with the speakers and maybe yours didnt?

well then, perhaps a title with more detail would't require a change - a title of: ' *sigh*' is not very detailed. In any case, PM me the title you want and I will change it.

    Closed until you PM me.
