    Hey guys,

    so I just formatted my M17x R1. I installed the drivers from the dell site for my 4800 HD's and I downloaded CCC from AMD's site.

    Device manager does tell me that my 2 Cards are working fine, however there is no option to enable crossfire in CCC?

    Please help me here! :)

    Hi!

    - Are you sure that your crossfire cable is connected?
    - Have you disabled Integrated and Hybrid Graphics in BIOS?

    Waiting for your response,

    - Scott.

    Ok, let me ask it this way, then;
    Have you disassembled your PC in the past? How and when did the problem start occouring? After you disassembled it, or..?

    Its not sure that the guide will work - Its ment for the 5870's, at least you will have to use drivers that are made for your cards!

    So uhm, I opened it and they are both connected - it's the blue flat wire right?

    Hmm I just received it back from NDC, I had problems where the cards wouldn't work at all. However it seems xfire is not working now. My warranty has also ran out, so I'll have to figure this out by myself..

    We really, really need a sticky guide on troubleshooting GPU drivers and problems.

    Yes, Starscream, that cable should connect the two cards together.

    Open up Catalyst Control Center - Go to the hardware tab, does it say "Disabled adapter" under the primary one? What does the hardware tab say?

    Ok, so it detects the adapter, but won't let you crossfire enable them.
    Again, you never told me why / when this problem started occuring. Was it after a fresh install of Windows?

    Give me some info,

    from this early stage, it seems like you're installing the wrong drivers..

    I got the laptop back from repairs and none of the cards were working. I re-installed windows and they started working after some time. Just I couldn't enable Crossfire

    Well I installed the AMD driver I downloaded from here TinyURL.com - shorten that long URL into a tiny URL

    + the 11-9 CCC and the profiles

    Don't do the 11.9

    Start off from scratch, without any video-drivers, if you are going to remove what you have now, uninstall through Device Manager and check the box that asks to delete the driver installation files.

    Then, use DriveSweeper in Safemode to remove excess files, and finish it up with registrycleaning with CCleaner.

    Then, install ONLY the DELL driver,
    which in your case will be this one;
    ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/video/R284039.exe
    And then see what happens.

    Keep me posted :)

    - Scott.

    No problem, man!
    When you have applied the old drivers and CCC, you can "upgrade on top of that". What i mean by that, is that you can install the newest drivers on top of the old drivers, when you have enabled Crossfire, and you will not loose crossfire abillity after the upgrade, but still get the newest drivers to enjoy. (Also, you should install the newest Application Profiles, to get better utilization of your Crossfire system.)

    Just remember, install on top of the stock dell-drivers, DO NOT remove those and then install.

    Happy fragging!

    - Scott.
