    Hi all,

I've read that the M17x r3 is pretty quiet when doing light tasks, but under full load it can get very loud. I absolutely hate fan noise when playing games and was wondering if any one could recommend a good set of noise-cancelling headphones that work well in consort with the M17x r3 fan noise.

At the moment I am thinking of the Sennheiser PXC 450. But if any one else has any suggestions I'd definitely love to hear them.

Hello in terms of noise cancelling I recommend the G35 Logitech headsets they are expensive though X_x I used them and they were really good.

Razer Carcharias, these headsets are overall amazing, not sure about noise cancellation I tried them 1-2 years ago and they are pretty damn good, most comfortable headsets ive ever used.

Currently using the Starcraft 2 Special edition razer headsets they are okay not worth it due to the price. got it as a birthday gift, otherwise I would never buy one, in terms of noise cancellation they are very good but music/overall the price is just too much for an "okay" quality headset.

    Hey thanks for your replies.

I am wearing my G35's right now which I have had for over a year. They are pretty cool headphones, great for gaming and the buttons on it are really intuitive, especially the sound control which is like 2nd nature now. But it's not really that good at sound isolating. My PC fans are barely attenuated by it.

I've done some more searching, and the best noise reducing headset I can find are these earbuds which provides up to 42dB attenuation:

Etymotic Research, Inc. - hf3? headset + earphones

I don't really know what kind of quality they will produce, but apparently they are the best on the market.

I have to agree G35 headset, yes they are expensive but a 2 year warranty and the fact that they are just awesome makes up for it.

When I have them on it blocks out pretty much every sound in the room.

the m17x r3's speaker is loud enough to mask the fans though

Do you want a headset? Just because the m17xr3's mic picks up noise from the keyboard. The sound m17's fans is pretty negligible with any closed earcup headphone.

The problem with a good closed headphone is that when you talk you can hear a slight echo in your own head which may get disturbing. Also, closed earcups get pretty warm.

I personally have the sennheiser pc360, the hd 595's with zalman clip on mic and the pc350's for the occasional lan event.

The pc350's are really portable and closed earcup and they do have the same problems as the ones I mentioned above. I can wear the other 2 headphones all day and the sound is amazing.

I have the Carcharias as well, not noise cancelling but amazing nonetheless. I would get them or the Sound Blaster Tactic 3D's that I also own. I have the Alphas and I am switching to the Omega's with the Recon3D adapter for consoles once they are available as a package in I think September.
